This info is from about a year and a half ago. And this is all for Kennedy... NASA had contracted its police services with Wackenhut Services Inc, a subsidary of The Wackenhut Corp.

From what I heard they had deputy commissions from whatever county they were in. However, from recent news, it looks like NASA has taken that away from them as they want them to be Security Guards and not traffic cops.

When I sent them a letter of interest (and I was a Wackenhut Employee) the chief replied to me and basically said if you arent a retired LEO or have a ton of time on the job, you can pretty much bugger off. I think he said the average hiring age was around 40.

Na, not around here at least. We have two other reserve deputies that work for NASA Protective Services; they are 21 and 24 years old. They told me that they are hiring, however there is nothing listed on the net as to their openings. I have 5 years in state retirement so I really don’t want to pull out now, but I am exploring the thought. Both those guys are still waiting to go to FLECT but have been released to work on their own.

One worked for a county jail as a jailer and the other worked for a pharmacy...So the requirements aren’t all that high from what they have told me.

I know for a fact that they are not Wackenhut contracted. At least not here in Huntsville

NASA Security at Kennedy is handled by a company under contract by NASA.

The company is called "Space Gateway Support". They have the SWAT team there and the security force. NASA has their own training program/academy.

I actually dated a girl for about a month, who's dad was one of Security Guys out at Kennedy. Only a few of them are Sworn by Brevard County S.O.. The rest just handle LE duties on the property.
