    security clearance

Is there anybody who can explain to me why it is that local police agencies do not realize the value of a security clearance. I have a DOD TS/SCI clearance which along with my five years military experience I expected to smooth out my background check. However I still had to explain a speeding ticket I got over 10 years ago and my high school guidance couselor was called. Any disqualifying factor present before I joined the military would be in my military record as would any disqualifying factor during my service. All the hassle convinced me to stick with the Feds.

It is probably because most police officers are not privy to highly classified material. To have the clearance is moot since it nearly helps them or hinders you.

I used to have a secret clearance but gave it up -- too much paperwork and I don't like BB looking over my shoulder. I won't even apply for a government contractor job that requires a Q clearance for the same reason.
