Congrats Diggy. It should be smooth sailing from this point on. You were lucky to be notified right after your poly that you passed. I had to wait until someone contacted me for my BI, then i knew i was moving on in the process. Hopefully there will be some word for us '07 testers in terms of available classes for this year.

My poly examiner used to be a recruiter and he told me that ATF only runs four classes per year so it may very well be into next fiscal year before much of the 07 testers get onboard. The waiting game continues........

Just got the call about a potential internship with ATF. Find out in about a week if it will happen. So that kind of made my day.

    New to the forum

Hey guys, new to the forum.

I wanted to throw my 2 cents.

Applied in November 08 to Spanish announcement out of Phoenix. Tested on 8/11, got my NOB yesterday, excited to know that I am eligible. I got to say that the ARCO TEA study guide really helped.

Any other testers out of the same announcement?

I need to go now because I am already running late to "waiting for my interview appt."

What is the current status of ATF testing, I thought I read that they have recently changed things up a bit? Do you still take the Treasury TEA exam or do they have their own separate ATF test now?

You no longer take the TEA exam, they have the ATF exam now. It is very similar to the TEA though.

A publisher by the name of Learning Express has a 3rd edition of their TEA guide coming out in November and they still have the ATF on the cover of it. It's still pass/fail I presume?

Also, the ATF offers you a specific city/office at the time they make you a TA, is that still correct?

Thanks for the gouge, looking to apply in October when they reopen the posting for a week or so.

Yes, it is still a pass/fail test, or as they call it eligible/ineligible.

Yes they let you know the office/locationd during your TA.

That book should do the job Im sure, but definitely study to sharpen your math skills.

I've just heard from HR in D.C. that there is a lack of remaining budget for the ATF right now and all vacancies within are waiting to be filled pending funds which may not be until October 1 when the new FY budget begins. There are people other than just 1811's who have been granted clearances and are just waiting on funds for an EOD date; not sure when the next ATF SA date at FLETC may be.

My question about ATF 1811's and their new duty station assignments: a lot of new ATF agents are being hired for the SW border area for Op Gunrunner, such as in Houston for example. But the Houston Field Division also has a handful of other Field Offices, some of which are actually a lot closer to the actual border.

These offices range from Austin, Beaumont, Corpus Christi, Laredo, and McAllen - so how many of these new hire ATF 1811's are going to say Houston and how many of them are going down to McAllen or Laredo which are actually on the border? And are those assignments for a minimum time at least, say something like three years so you can rationally consider purchasing a residence as opposed to renting?

Also, as I understand it, there is no relocation available for new ATF 1811's unless they are already employees of ATF, correct? Do you all have any ideas as to what that level of relocation assistance may actually be? I wouldn't otherwise mind moving for the op to go 1811 in ATF, but with the housing market the way they are, I would prefer not to have to move for at least another three plus years.
