So I'm out running radar today with my FTO and I get a call from an unknown number. It's NCIS making me an offer for a Special Agent position, starting in October (I think, I'll be calling back tomorrow as I was too excited to write anything down) in Virginia. I'm so excited right now I can't think straight (it was tough staying focused on the rest of the calls today :D).
Any feds out there with any advice on FLETC, NCIS, or starting out as an 1811, feel free to PM me. I'll be glad to take whatever insight and wisdom you have for me.

The wife-to-be is supportive and enthusiastic, but scared about the unknown. We'll be talking more about this tonight, but yeah, I'm gonna take it. It's the culmination of very hard work I've done over the past 3 years... kinda hard to turn it down. ;)

Awesome news Ros, the best advice I can give you is to put as much as you can into your TSP. You will never miss your retirement money if you never see it.
I really have not worked much with NCIS but they seem to have great investigative jurisdictions and it be cool working international assignments.

Congratulations ROS. I've worked (actually it was more like I rode in the car with them to interview a Marine) with NCIS once and the two agents I met were both very professional, squared away guys. Plus they had both been there for 10 plus years and still talked good about the agency.

Congratulations and Best Wishes!!!
Coincidentally, I know an NCIS Agent who retired just last week. I believe he was stationed out of Brunswick Naval Air Station in Maine. From what I understand, when you are starting out you will have to spend some time at sea (he said he had to do 3 to 6 months per year with the Fleet at sea at the beginning of his career).
I can give him a call if you would like some additional information.
P.S. What does someone who retires from a job with the Navy do? He and his wife are on a 10 day cruise (unbelievable)!
