    driving part of FLETC

I know that part of the training of FLETC is that you have to past some type of driving test. I was wondering what kind of things do you do and also how hard is it. Is there anybody that you know that failed the FLETC because they couldn't past the driving test? What can be done to get better?

You get Non-Emergency Vehicle Operation (NEVO) in which you drive through a cone course and demonstrate tight turns, backing, paralell parking, etc.

Then you get skid control, where you race onto a skid pan and practice recovery from skids.

Some agencies give you pursuit driving, which is the hardest but most fun. You practice high-speed driving techniques on the track, both day and night, and you get to see what you and your car can do.

Yes, people have failed out for driving, but only a small minority. Do what they tell you and do it how they tell you and you should have no problems. They'll walk you through everything.

Fair warning: Most of the driving course staff are former Park Police. They're a crazy bunch who know those tracks and their own cars inside and out. If you think you can do what they do, you're headed for a few spin-outs. But do what they tell you and you'll be ok.
As a Driving Instructor on Detail to the FLETC-Artesia Operations
DC Law is correct on some aspects, however:

The driving course is NOT a TRACK, it is a COURSE (We do not training NASCAR Drivers at FLETC). If you refer to to the course as a TRACK, you can expect to wear a helmet for 24 hours to remind you about proper terminology.

Pursuit Driving is referred to as Emergency Response. Your will learn line of travel, driving as if you have the whole road way (White Line to White Line).

Your lecture will cover approximately 6 hours.
Your driving skills portion will hae you demonstrate each of the skills starting slowly at first then working up to Time and Grade.

As long as you pay attention and listen to your instructors you will do fine.

At GLYNCO they may have all former Park Police Instructors, at Artesia, we are a mixture of many agencies. DC is correct we do know the course and vehicle inside and out. We always have some students who thinks they know more than we do, and yes they usually get show a LESSON to humble them.

Have fun and do not worry you will do fine.
