Is anyone else currently in the USSS Special Agent hiring process? Has anyone heard any information on the next hiring panel or how many classes need to be filled for FY 2007?

hiring is really done every month. As far as classes, there is at least one per month. a TON of hiring is being done right now.

Im in the very beginning of the process. Recruiter told me hiring is going on at a fast pace for the next election year. Maybe SSA1811 might know more details?
Anyone have any idea when the hiring rush will slow down? Maybe October?
not for a long while.

I applied for both positions at the same time (UD & SA) I received thin letters within 2 weeks of dropping off my applications at the local field office. I know that apps are reviewed by hq so I am perplexed as to how they made a decision so quickly. I put a lot of time and energy into the KSA's. Was I dq'ed because I submitted apps for both positions at the same time? What else could have dq'ed me so fast? Are grades an automatic disqualifier?
Sorry to hear that Patroit72. I heard you were not allowed to apply to both UD and SA. If you did apply to both your local FO would make you chose one or the other. Is your local FO a larger office? I have read the majority of smaller FOs are extremely helpful to applicants.
As most of you are already aware, hiring at the Federal level goes through extreme cycles where there is no hiring for 2 or 3 or more years, then Agencies appear to go on a hiring "binge".
These cyclical hiring swings are partially responsible for the "experience gap" many Agencies are currently going through where Agents with only 4 or 5 years on the job are being encouraged to apply for Supervisory positions.
Returning to the original subject of this thread, I am aware that the USSS is involved in a significant recruiting campaign, but do not have any specifics. With the large projected potential number of candidates expected in the upcoming Presidential Election campaign, the USSS would, I am sure, like to have most if not all of their hiring and training completed well before the campaign heats up.
The USSS will tell you officially that they have two missions: Protection and Criminal Investigations, however, from my experience, every four years the USSS' only mission is Protection.
In terms of applying for a Special Agent position, I would recommend emphasizing any education, training, experience, and/or interest in computers and/or foreign languages. During non-election years, the USSS has been strongly committed to the "Electronic Crimes Task Forces" that they have been mandated to create. Language skills will help with any Agency.
Best of luck to all of you!
Im currently in the process. Turned in my KSA's around January, and all I have left is Poly and Background. Seems to be going really quickly compared to the last agency I applied through. USMS took over 5 years for me.
I applied last year wile I was in law school. However, I applied via email and never received any response or acknowledgment. I assume something happened with the transmission and my app never got processed. Now I'm an attorney and I'm thinking of reapplying. Its good to hear that they are heavily recruiting.

Also for what it is worth to you. Some time ago I spoke with a guy in DC who used to handle the recruiting for the USSS, and he told me NOT to email in the app and KSA. I handed in my app to the field office and got a call in about a week. If you emailed yours I would make sure to hand it to someone in the office personally instead.
Anyone get a call or know anyone who got “the call” for July? There seemed to be a strong hiring push April to June. Has anyone heard any inside knowledge from an applicant coordinator or recruiter recently?
Well I FINALLY took the TEA about a week ago, and lo and behold I got a call from the recruiter telling me that I passed. I guess that ARCO book was worth the money after all. :D Just goes to show you that you can still have math struggles and pass the thing!
