Nice job Maverick. if you were like me at all, I was suprised to hear that I passed given how I felt walking out of the test. Good luck with the panel.

I plan to drive down to Riverside, CA and drop off a package the first week of Jan. I figure nobody will be around until then. I spoke to a USSS SA who I work with on a JTTF (yes DoD agents can do JTTF) and he said the job is fun but very tiring. He said after 5 years a lot of SA's lateral to other agencies. I think it's the PSO duties more than the case duties. I still think it's a good opportunity. From what I've gathered, and correct me if I'm wrong, it's not really a kick open the door and arrest the bad guy agency. No fugitive task force or drug investigations like the FBI, Marshals and such. Similar to OSI to be honest. Unless we are deployed we are more reactive in plenty of ways.

From some experienced or knowledgeable people here, did you get the same feeling regarding this agency?

A suite everyday, in the office job or doing PSOs pretty much...

I don't know many USSS guys but the one's I have talk'ed too said there is a high turn over rate in the agency. They also told me that depending on the assigned office you can spend loooooooots of time away from home. I know the guys in the San Antonio office are always detailed out.

I submitted an application last year but then decided against it and with drew my app. Some guys love it but I would much rather work for ICE or ATF.

Yer I heard the time away from home really can suck. Guys are always detailed out and agents get burned out after 3 yrs. Did a few PSOs w/ those guys, seems cool if that's your thing. As we all know ICE has that "1 Jan 08" up there :D

I love OSI, top rate agency, but the jurisdiction things and some archaic carry policies get to me.

ATF has the weirdess hiring process I've seen.
