I don't think that's a federal job, just a quasi-federal position. Unless things have changed. Not sure how long the process is though.

    Federal

The FRB is a Federal Job they were federalized after 9/11 buuut they are on the same scope as DOD police and VA they don't get Law enforcement retirement and basically their patch says Police but they don't take their weapons home and they can't carry off duty without a permit. But they are federal and probably a good stepping stone to go to another agency.

That is not true. The FRB Officers in Atlanta taketheir weapons home and can carry on creds. Your info may be a little dated.

VA Police can carry off duty without a permit but it has to be their own weapon.

    I found this site:
    http://www.federalreserve.gov/career...nforcement.htm

But it doesn't mention them being Federal Law Enforcement. I also couldn't find anything on USAjobs. Where did you hear they are now federal?

I did find an old post from a FRB Police Officer. It was posted last year and they still weren't federal as of yet. I'd like to see it happen but I doubt it ever will.

I forgot to ask them that on the interview? well i passed the interview portion. However, i am in the 6 slot and 5 candidate are ahead of me. So basically they said that im a backup if something goes wrong? i want all the candidates to be successful in the process, but at the same time, i want to move into the 5 slots to be concidered......

I am a Federal Reserve Police Officer.

Each district creates their own policies to a point. Some carry their weapons home and others don't. Some are cross designated with state or county LE and others do not.

We are Federal Sworn LE but not paid by the Gov. Training comes from FLETC, but most of us do not attend, we just use all their training material.

It can be a good stepping stone.

It is a little confusing how it all works on top of the fact that we are in another state of flux with all the training and authority.

If your branch does it the same way we do, it only takes about a week. We just do a criminal background check nothing too in-depth.

Thanks Mr. Castle, I talked to HR and they stated it only takes a week. But she also stated that a background investigator will visit my neighbors and employment. In addition, do they look if you have good credit? i was up front with them on the interview and told them that i have credit issues and thats the reason why i was dq'd from LAPD. Captain told me thanks for being honest and passed me?? Do you know if they way the credit issues at all in backgrounds? i know that would only be my issue in backgrounds. everything else is squred away. thanks

Well, I am not so sure about the agency you applied for, but I would assume, that yes they will look at your credit. DO not worry about it. You were up front and they still moved you along so that says something right there!!!! Just be completly forthright with the background investigators, should they talk to you!!!!
