Wish I could answer your question based on personal experience....I take the test for the first time on Monday. I'm hitting the books, too, but based on other posts I've read, Arco math is more on par with the actual test. If you get to the point where you can do the stuff in that book, you should be set. Good luck to you! I'll let you know how it went after I take it next week.
Regarding the lack of a physical fitness test for S/A applicants, I kind of have mixed emotions. On one hand, it takes off a lot of extra pressure; on the other hand, it eliminates motivation. I have been trying to stay in shape, but I am definitely not pushing myself as I would if I were facing a fitness test. Luckily, I have a few years to get in shape if I ever make it through this long process. I plan on coming up with a good workout regimen and sticking to it. I don't want to show up to FLETC some day with a belly and no endurance.
Start working out as hard as you would be if you had the PT test tomorrow. Train today like you will fight for your life tomorrow.
Don't put it off, you can never be too prepared.
I would say it is very similar to the ARCO book. Maybe just a bit easier in my opinion. If I remember correctly the math was slightly less complicated than the TEA math, and there werent any "tax-type" financial questions (that I can remember I could be wrong). Bottom line, If you do well on the ARCO problems, you will be fine on the test. Good Luck.
Well, I took the ICE test this morning. I thought it was much easier than the ATF TEA test I took back in Dec. All aspects of this test were easier.
Good luck and Be Safe.
1) Did the exam take 5 hours?
2) Are there 4 sections (Logic Reasoning, Math, Writing Skills, and Personality)?
3) Do you recall if there was any Tax, Payroll, or Interest questions on the Math portion of the exam?
4) How many questions in each section and how much time are you given for each section?
Thanks!

The test 5 hours not too bad overall

I also took the test today, in Golden, Colorado. There were approximately 48 test takers, based on a cursory count, 8 of which where woman. Very little cultural diversity was represented, unfortunately, but there were a few minorities.
Overall, I felt like the math was VERY easy compared to the ARCO book. If you master the study guide, you should do fine. The other sections were not bad either, the easiest being the grammar section.
Section 1 (reasoning) was 35 questions, 75 minutes.
Section 2 (arithmetic) was 25 questions, 75 minutes.
Section 3 (grammar) was 35 questions, 50 minutes (or 55?).
Section 4 (personality/experience) was 69 questions, 45 minutes.
I am a very slow test taker, but found I had enough time in each section to go back and check a few answers. Everyone was done with the last section with at least 10 minutes, so the proctor ended it early. The entire event lasted about 5 1/2 hours because we started very late, with the latest straggler arriving at 8:47. Come on, be there at least 20 minutes early!

Wow, when I took it last Sept in Newark, there were only 4 of us (like 10 didnt show). And all 4 of us were current Fed LEO's. Very relaxed testing environment. Good luck to all those who took the exam!
yeah, there were 24 in my testing group. I was really surprised. When I went for the ATF TEA in Boston there was a group of 200 in the room taking the exam when I arrived, and then there was another group of 200 taking the exam with me.
But I guess when you hire SA's once every 5 years, as it seems the ATF does, they need to have a rather large pool of applicants.
Question to all those who have been around the boards long enough, been hired or follow it closely, Does there seem to be a correlation between qualification and hiring speed???

I took the test 3/31/08.
I found the math to be the hardest of all the sections.
now it's wait and see time.
Just curious...
Does anyone know if the test is pass/fail based on sections
or is it pass/fail for all the sections.
is it cumulative or is it pass/fail each section.
I guess it's wait and see time.
