No tests do not have to be retaken. your medical will have to be recerted though after about a year. Everything rix said is correct. However ICE does not necessarily hire in order. I know someone who was only in TS for 2 months before getting the call before others who have been waiting for years in some cases. It can be a mystery sometimes how they hire. Also keep in mind that a new fy is not that far away.

that has happened, but keep in mind, it may have taken 2 years to get in t&s. add 2 months on to that to get the call and you are looking at 26 months!! ALSO, if great falls, montana needs 2 people and there are only 2 in the process, they may get a call the same day they enter t&s as opposed to someone in nyc or chicago where the list of people waiting for the call is 100. it could be a long wait for them.

For him it was just about a year from test to t&s and he was assigned ny. Its rare, but he just flew through. From what I have seen huge offices in expensive areas like NY, DC etc. always seem to be hiring and are quicker. Whereas smaller offices down south take much longer to get into (this is true all over the feds). Bottom line though, it could be years for anyone.

Hey Rix...where you offered a border office which fell under the office in which you applied and interviewed?

i was offered phoenix which a about nine states away from where interviewed!!! ok, a little sarcastic, but it still bothers me that i invested a year in the process and was offered an office a long ways from here.

i know it isnt technically a southern border office, but its close enough!

    yes, i am a leo.

damn, there goes that theory about offers falling under the office in which you apply/interview. i hope to stay within texas WHEN an offer comes, ill suck it up on the border for a few years.

There is no guarantee that you will be hired out of the office you interviewed at. Some get 'lucky', while others get an offer based on the needs of the service.

Don't forget the Mobility Clause that you'll have to sign. Even if hired where you want to be, there is no guarantee that you'll be able to remain there.

BIG had a classmate who did a year in Nawlins', before being transferred to El Paso.

Needs of the service trump all.

Big speaks the truth as always. And that goes for pretty much every federal agency. The only guarantee is that there are no guarantees!

i think you are missing my point. i completely understand the mobility agreement, needs of the service, etc. But, i am jaded because i spent a year in the process just to be offered an office that i was unable to accept for personal reasons and they withdrew me from the process. i didnt say they were wrong or that i was mistreated, i just was upset with not being able to accept the position. i was very excited about working for ice and it was a huge let down. and, it didnt help when i heard that some people declined the offer and were called back and offered their local sac office!!

HOWEVER, that is water over the bridge and i hope it turns out differently this time.

Did you have to begin the entire process over again, test and everything?

Have any of the Spring 2008 test takers heard anything about what happens next? Will there be a request for supporting documents to be submitted, prior to the interview? I suppose I should just put the whole process out of mind and settle in for the long wait.

You will most likely get a fedex packet in the next month or so from the SAC you selected, with a panel interview request and a stack of documents for you to fill out. I took my exam last sept, interviewed in late november. Most others had their interviews in Dec, and some in Jan (to give you an idea of the timeframe). After that it you will get an NOR on the interview, and then it will probably be months before you hear about the TO.
