    TVA Reservation

    TVA prohibits firearms on their property. However, I have heard that if it and the ammo are in seperate lockable compartments it is acceptable. I drive a Wrangler with the lockable console and glovebox, but no trunk obviously. My question is if the ammo and gun are in seperate locations or if the gun was disassembled (field strip-Ruger P95 strips in less than 10 seconds), would this be acceptable? Obviously going a different route would be the thing to do. I am just asking more out of curiosity. Thanks guys.

    I don't know the answer but...

    Why on earth would you bother to transport a Ruger P95??

    Why on Earth would you bother to reply with a completely useless post?

    Just because it is not up to your standards, doesn't mean you should make fun of my choice in firearms. It is my first autoloader and I am quite proud of it. Thank you for ridiculing me and my choice in firearms. Does anyone have some useful insight to my question? Thanks.

    Whoa

    Calm down there cowboy. I think you might be taking things a little too seriously. Did you or did you not see the smiley face at the end of that sentence? I see by your byline that you are hoping to be in LE someday, well, you better get some thicker skin. This line of work can be brutal, and if you get bent out of shape over an Internet post by someone you don't know, don't have to deal with on a daily basis, etc. etc., well, how will you react when your fellow officers 'ridicule' you to your face?

    Here we go, attacking the person rather than addressing the issues.

    Seem to be a trend.

    Now I show my ignorance. What is TVA?

    And regardless, "hearing" what the law is might land you in jail. Find out, in writing, before you venture off to the TVA. "In writing" does NOT include what some yahoo on the internet posts. (yes, that includes me)

    TVA= Tennessee Valley Authority

    The Tennessee Valley Authority is a federal corporation and the nation’s largest public power company. As a regional development agency, TVA supplies affordable, reliable power, supports a thriving river system, and stimulates sustainable economic development in the public interest. TVA operates fossil-fuel, nuclear, and hydropower plants, and has also begun producing energy from renewable sources. It manages the nation’s fifth-largest river system to minimize flooding, maintain navigation, provide recreational opportunities, and protect water quality in the 41,000-square-mile watershed.

    Thanks Tx. I was hoping someone from Public Safety might be here. Guess not. I avoid the reservation when I have the gun on me, just more of a curiosity thing. The reservation connects two counties with Wilson Dam over the Tennessee River. From the time of entry to exit of the reservation is probably 5 minutes. How are the "firearms prohibited" areas where you guys are in relation to transport.

    Swat, I apologize for getting snappy. It was a VERY bad day, even though that is not excuse. I have fairly thick skin, however, it wore thin at that point. I took it as being very sarcastic, even a smilie can't reflect tone like a voice can. Anyhow, have a good day.
