Getting a job in a Federal agency

If your goal was to work for a federal agency, after college would you go local/state/county first and then after a few years try to get a job federal or would you go into the military. I was thinking about this because I was wondering which would help me more(if any). And no I wouldn't just go military just to do it. I've always thought about going military before going civilian.

It's all about offering the best package you can. That package can be comprised of your degree (what it is in can be very iportant, depending on the agencies that you are interested in), experience (not always necessary, but always an asset) an military experience (much like LE experience, whether active or reserve).

I've worked with guys that were Naval Academy graduates, guys who were MPs with no degrees or civilian LEO, guys who were hired right out of college from the co-op program, as well as guys with degrees what were SF and then later SWAT memebrs on local PDs. It's all about what you bring to the table... the more the better.
