SRT's are part of OI (Office of Investigations) IEA's are not. Only 1811's can be on the SRT teams. Being on SRT is a collateral duty so the S/A must not only carry their own case load but be able to respond for call outs. There are no full time SRT teams in ICE.
Don't know where peoples info is coming from but having worked for ICE and having worked in a few states at half a dozen offices....
SRTs fall under DRO. IEA's and DO's staff these positions. Each office is different but generally one must be at least a GS-9 to apply unless otherwise specified.
OI has the Special Agents who do the Customs stuff aswell as immigration. They also handle gangs. On occasion, DRO (IEAs) supplement OI and get to go out.
As for having to be Special Agents that is false.
As for full time SRT, they are only on collateral duty meaning call up.
Fug operations are also street teams. They can be on the SRT aswell but again it depends on the office and district.
Be cautious with those who answer questions. The majority as it appears seem to either be fresh or old timers.
Put in your time and kiss ***.......
I think you are on the money. As I work for ICE/DRO now, I know that BOTH OI and DRO have their own respective SRTs. There is talk that my FO is about to stand one up. I hear its gonna be open to IEAs and DOs like you said.
Wow. All that and neither one of you noticed the thread is 22 months old. Way to go resurrecting the dead.
What's you next trick going to be, sawing a pony in half.

First of all, apparently you (and your NON-VERIFIED arrrogance) have a difficult time reading. Check out his title... he's a VERIFIED ICE 1811. Apparently you are NOT an investigator. Also, as already mentioned, this is a VERY old thread.
I don't claim to know. However, if you are on the job, as you seem to insinuate, wouldn't it be easier to ask your coworkers?

Though stated rudely and in a long dead thread, the poster was correct. Both ICE/OI and ICE/DRO have their own separate SRT's.
Yet, he was incorrect when he says that IEA's supplement OI. OI has no IEA's, nor do we "borrow" them to supplement anything. Now during Work Site Operations, DRO is present, but they are there to preform there own duties and not as any sort of supplement.
Now when BIG was working gangs and we were hitting dope houses and such, BIG has invited some IEA's along. Not because he needed them or was mandated to invite them, but simply because he knew them personally and thought they'd enjoy the change of pace of working with OI and the local PD.
As Swich has already stated, you both imply that you're employed by ICE/DRO. Well, don't simply imply it, put your money where your collective mouths are and get verified or keep your mouths shut.
