Just starting a new thread for DSS.

It seems that calls for BEX dates are being done to those who took and passed the online exam. I took and passed it exam also, however. I am still waiting for the call - if I ever get one.

Just want to do a running count at the ones who took the exam, passed, and has either gotten the call for the BEX (location too) or no call yet.

Add me to the took the test "no call yet" category. I think some calls for the midwest are going out now, but even if you dont get called this round it dosent mean you wont get a BEX a few months from now (last time i BEX'd a few years ago I was called in the second round a few months after the first batch). Keep those fingers crossed and good luck!

I hear ya', but it is not easy.

The more I read about DSS, the more excited I am about trying to become a SA for them. I would really love the travel part, protective detail and international fugitive chase sound like fun!

I've got the TEA for the USSS coming up on Dec 12. I am studying my tail off for that one; in lue of my failure of the FBI phase one exam and ICE exam, I am starting to think I don't test well, or maybe it's math I really suck at:eek:

O yeah , the DS S/A position is a awesome job, especially if you are single. I took the test and I am waiting for the call. I currently work for the BOP and its time for a CHANGE!!! I did not get a MS degree to be a baby sister. GOOD luck to all and happy thanksgiving

Yes, somehow I managed to pass the BEX last Friday.

My best advice: be specific and concise in your answers. Try to limit your BS answers ("well of course there have been times when I've encountered conflict in the workplace." - describe a specific time...or make one up).

Don't be afraid to make yourself sound great. But, don't go crazy and tell them you've had every type of martial arts training known to man, etc. I'm in my early 20s and had to describe my supervisory experience...haahah. I had to reach for it. I said it like I believed it, and they bought it.

Be confident. If you're not, fake it. They're like dogs - they can sniff out fear.

Have fun. It's a pretty cool process and if you're too nervous you won't be able to enjoy the challenge of it. Sit there, look at them, smile and mentally say, "Bring it on."

I just got out of the BEX. Seven candidates in the morning...only one passed.

EMT - stoked for you! I found out that before my BEX they had failed 10 out of 11, so it sounds like they're being pretty tough across the board.

Great job! Did you get a COE on the spot or did they say they'd call you with it?

That's basically what they said to me too. They told me I'd get a letter or a phone call...I think. I was so excited that I don't think I listened as well as I probably should have. As far as I understand, that's the COE. I figure they'll contact me when they're ready.

Just from watching my boyfriend go through the process, I don't think there's a physical test before you head to FLETC. I'll check with him to make sure. There's the medical, of course, which honestly, if it's anything like the NCIS med, is nothing. Take some blood, check your vision, hearing, etc. But, there are physical tests at FLETC as well as regular PT (physical training) classes.

How Do assignments work? Is there only one DSS Agent at an embassy or are there a few? Im just curious what kinds of things you get to do as a DSS agent, keeping my options open.
