Any Immigration Enforcement Agents out there? They seem to be heavily recruiting as seen in the "hot jobs" section in the usajobs.opm website. I'd like to get anybody's 2 cents about the position, e.g. daily routine, job satisfaction, etc.

There is a link at military.com. for that position Also the deadline for aplying is Sept. 29.
Semper Fi!
One of my friends from college is one of them now. He's just started, but he likes the job so far, and enjoyed FLETC. On the other hand I also know of a fellow classmate who didn't like it and is now looking for a NY state job. Course even if it doesn't work out the way you're looking for, the guy who went through and is leaving looks more marketable cause he proved he can make it through an academy. I've been considering the job myself, and am interested to hear responses.

My partner is a Special Agent for the INS. What would you like to know about the job? No uniform, compnay car, work on busting people for imigration scams. Law firms are a big target.....alot of overseas travel. It is a good deal.
If anyone here has ever taken the written exam for this position, Can you let me know what the written exam consists of. Some people have said it is logical reasoning and others sometimes say its a 3 part test. Hopefully someone that has taken it can provide me with some info
When I took the test about 2 years ago it was in 3 parts. The majority of it is logical reasoning. For example, they give you a paragraph with tons of jumbled info and ask you questions pertaining to actors a,b, or c in the paragraph. Only advice I can give is read the paragraphs VERY carefully. Also, all sections are timed so don't fool around. To be honest, I was quite surprised at the difficulty of the test (and I'm a great test taker). Good luck.
Well I am scheduled for the exam on Oct 27th. I'll let you guys know how it went. See ya later gators.
Is there anyone who has taken this exam familiar with any study guides that may be beneficial to me?
I hear studying the Reading Comprehension sections of any TEA (Treasury Enforcement Agent) Exam study books from, for example, ARCO publishing can be quite helpful. Someone told me that when the question asks for "what CAN be validly concluded from the previous passage" look for the one TRUE answer among 4 false answers presented. In other words, look for the one answer & say to yourself: "hey they did say that one, but they didn't say any of these four other answers." Supposedly the opposite can be applied when the question asks for "what CANNOT be validly concluded."
I'm scheduled to take the test on Oct.17 but my concern is the acadamy. I had thorn ligaments on my ankle and I can run O.K. but if there's an obsticle course involved I'm dead...
Does anyone know how rigorous the training is?
I would think the training should be less intense than a border patrol agent...
Not sure. As far as I know, pretty much all of the programs at fletc are pretty rigorous. Try this link, I think it will be helpful.

I recently took the test 10-06-03. Its 3 parts. The last part is easy, "what would you do" type question and also questions about your background. The first two parts are all logical reasoning. My suggestion is you make sure you understand the study guide inside and out. Make sure you understand what their looking for. The question frequently use double negatives and try to confuse you. Examine each line carefully. This test can be difficult if you don't read quickly.
FYI, an Immigration Enforcement and Special Agent are 2 different jobs.... very, very different.Originally posted by BigGerman

Can you tell me what exactly it is that Immigration Enforcement Agents do. I'm confused about the differences between Agent/Special Agent/Inspector/Officer.

Is that the one where you have to re-apply every year for the job?
