In last stages with NCIS, just waiting for my application package to be sent to HQ. It was already sent once, but they called my case agent and told him to 1) find my drug screening or do another one (I found it...on my previous case agent's desk across the country) and 2) stalk my new neighbors even though I haven't lived at my current location for six months. I think that's all completed, so hopefully it's on its way back to HQ.

    For reference, my timeline:

    Dec 05 - apply
    Feb 06 - testing
    March 06 - one-on-one informational interview
    May 06 - panel interview
    August 06 - BI began
    Oct 06 - medical exam
    Dec 1, 2006 - package @ HQ ??

Waiting is seriously the worst part!!
    Here's my timeline:

Applied - April '04 (received BQA letter about a month later)
    Reapplied - April '05
SA Test Battery - Sept. '05
    PSI Interview - Dec. '05
    Panel Interview - May '06
Informed BI would begin soon - June '06

I've been trying to make contacts to find out about my BI, or any update on my status, and have not been successful. My AC was a retired agent who has recently taken a second retirement, and the FO I've processed out of doesn't seem to have an idea of where I am in the process, or who to put me in touch with for more info. Haven't heard a peep from NCIS since June, and when I called before the Thanksgiving break, they weren't sure who I needed to talk to.

I'm going to give the FO a call again today, just to see if I can get some new info.

UPDATE: Got a call from the agent who will be doing my BI this morning. Super cool guy (not that I'd expect anything less from NCIS  ), and even said he wouldn't contact my current employers - who do not currently know of my application with NCIS - until he called me again first. He said I should also be getting a call soon to get my med exam and drug screening taken care of, so it looks like the ball is rolling again!

    Ncis?

NCIS? No Crime Is Serious? Just kidding, nothing but love for these guys. I have worked with a lot of great guys in my area that have taken over some of my cases. Best of luck!

    NCIS Online Application Status Update

I found out that the reason my applications were getting rejected is because I answered a question wrong. This was explained in one of the e-mails after the rejection e-mail. I reapplied fixing the error and got another rejection e-mail.

Now my application status says "Grade 07:Reviewed favorably and forwarded to field office." It's been like this for about two weeks. I hope it's not an error. The online application system seemed to be a little buggy. Anyone else see any status change?

Well I've had a bunch of neighbors, friends, coworkers, etc. contact me telling me about "some fed guy" asking questions about me and doing my BI. Not really a status change, so much as a good indicator that my BI status is active.

    No more SA slots

Just checked the NCIS site and they say no more SA positions are available. I remember the same thing happening with DEA late last year. Anybody have additional info on this?

From what I've heard, hiring for FY 2007 has slowed down, there are few FLETC classes scheduled for NCIS. It seems that the widespread hiring initiative NCIS had for a few years is slowing down. Those still in the process (I'm finished with the BI, awaiting med exam) will continue to tread water, but I think it's accurate that they are not currently taking new applications at this time.

You may want to research the info available in the Federal section at 911jobforums.com.

    ROS,
I have done the opposite they are beginning my Bi but completed the medical. It is just a thorough medical exam like you have had before.

Well, they told me the med exam I took for FAMS would suffice (took it back in August '06), so they said they believe all I have to do is the urine analysis. Was told this a little over 3 weeks, so I'm just waiting on a phone call to finish my last step and hopefully hear a final answer soon afterwards.

Got a call from another NCIS agent today saying that NCIS "forgot" to interview a couple of my former bosses (at another federal agency, non-FLE), and that he was planning on contacting them.

Yet, my case agent here told me that he sent my packet to HQ in December? The guy today said this is still part of my pre-employment BI. I'm not shocked that they're still collecting info although it seems like this has been going on a long time for someone who is not that old, hasn't done much, and hasn't been anywhere. I'm more amused by the fact that they forgot, as they say, to interview all of my contacts.

    Pre-Screen

Had my pre-screen today....i felt like the agent that conducted it ripped me to shreds. The agent felt like I did not have enough LE background...apparantly 3 yrs as an MP does not qualify. This sucks...does'nt this agents recommendation go to DC in order to see if I am eligible for the next phase~ which is the panel interview...

    any thoughts?
