    Unhappy AFOSI Military

    Hey everybody,

I just submitted my OSI package last week for the CARB. The military hiring process is very different from the civilian agent process.

    1. You have to get permission from your career field functional manager to compete for AFOSI

    2. You have an interview with the Detachment superintendent, if you pass the next step is...

    3. An interview with the Detco (SAC) and usually two other SA's, if you pass that... (enlisted also have to take an exam, officers don't)

    4. You put together a package consisting of
    - Resume
    - 3 letters of recommendations
    - AF3849 (form that contains information regarding significant work experience and your commanders endorsement. To be competitive you'd want your commander or supervisor to rank you in this section, such as, etc.. My #3 of 30 officers, #1 of 10 Sgts, etc...)
    - Background info (not a SF for the initial process)
    - Performance reports (EPRs for enlisted, OPRs for officers)
    - Medals and Awards

    5. Once this is completed, you submit the package which will go before a selection board which I believe is called a CARB. If selected, than they'll conduct a BI on you for a TS.

Interesting process compared to military, but remember the boards only meet twice a year so it can be very lengthy.

Are there any military OSI agents who know how long it usually takes for the selection to be made, once the package is submitted to the CARB?

This is my personal message board

I know there are some active duty and AFROTC people out there waiting for OSI results. Here is some information I got off the AFPC website. Good Luck to everybody who applied (including myself). Results are usually posted a few days before the forecasted release date.

APPLICATION DEADLINES AND OBTAINING THE RESULTS OF THE LATEST SELECTION BOARD
Selection board results will be sent to all AFOSI units. To get the results, contact the AFOSI unit through which you submitted your application.
Do not contact AFPC for board results or for feedback on your particular application. Results will have been sent to all AFOSI and AFROTC units when ratified.

The latest AFOSI cross-flow and AFROTC application boards met on 5 Oct 06. The results must still be approved by the AFOSI/CC. Results will not be released until after that time. Forecasted release date is 27 Oct 06.

    I Got It!

Yes this has become my own personal posting area (notice who all the post are from). I found out today I got selected for AFOSI! I begin the BI paperwork next week and hopefully I can get in a Jan or Feb class.

Just thought I would say congratulations to myself in my own thread. Now if I can get my paperwork down quickly, I can have a beer and celebrate!

Seriously though, congrats on your accomplishment. Am I correct in understanding it is the Air Farce Office of Special Investigations? And CARB is Can't Always Remember Breathing, right?

Congratulations! Did you hear from the det you interviewed at or through AMS/vMPF? I may need to contact the local AFOSI det to check on mine then *crosses fingers*; haven't heard anything from our cadre yet (seems AFPC usually works slow anyay).

    Hey,

I heard from the Det today. There is nothing wrong with calling those guys, they usually understand. Especially since it seems like the email was sent out to all the Det SACs so you should know. Are you through active duty? Yer, AFPC is a pain, I never wait for them to update. I'm crossing my fingers for you, let me know as soon as you find out!

No, I am through ROTC so I'm not sure if:
    1. the OSI det will contact the ROTC det
    2. the OSI det will contact me directly
    3. waiting for AFPC to update ROTC (very slow)

Hopefully the ROTC board results are out as well, if I don't have anything in my inbox tomorrow I will definately try to get in touch with the Det.

    Thanks!

Any luck? I checked AFPC, nothing...of course. Since you are AFROTC they may give the results to your DetCo so check with him/her. Let them know the results have been released and maybe they'll call AFPC for you. Good luck!

Military, not civilian, active duty. I tried wearing the pimp suite but I couldn't get it out of the cleaners in time

Results were supposed to have been released to AFOSI dets and AFROTC dets. I talked to a ROTC cadet from another school who also applied at this board and they said they were already notified of their selection status (this board selected 6 cadets + an unspecified number of alternates). I tried getting in touch with the AFOSI unit I interviewed at and they seem quite busy (haven't been able to get in touch with anybody yet); ROTC does not know anything ad of now either. Best thing I guess is wait and see - if you have a slot at the very least they should be contacting you to start your BI.
