Hey everybody,
I just submitted my OSI package last week for the CARB. The military hiring process is very different from the civilian agent process.
1. You have to get permission from your career field functional manager to compete for AFOSI
2. You have an interview with the Detachment superintendent, if you pass the next step is...
3. An interview with the Detco (SAC) and usually two other SA's, if you pass that... (enlisted also have to take an exam, officers don't)
4. You put together a package consisting of
- Resume
- 3 letters of recommendations
- AF3849 (form that contains information regarding significant work experience and your commanders endorsement. To be competitive you'd want your commander or supervisor to rank you in this section, such as, etc.. My #3 of 30 officers, #1 of 10 Sgts, etc...)
- Background info (not a SF for the initial process)
- Performance reports (EPRs for enlisted, OPRs for officers)
- Medals and Awards
5. Once this is completed, you submit the package which will go before a selection board which I believe is called a CARB. If selected, than they'll conduct a BI on you for a TS.
Interesting process compared to military, but remember the boards only meet twice a year so it can be very lengthy.
