What is the FAMS looking for with New Hires?

Simply put.... What is the agency looking for in its new hires... An why are they hiring so many...

    Questions:

    1. How do you feel about the changing management… of Secret
    Service and TSA additions
    2. What is the FAMS looking for in its employees
    3. Are all FAM built like walking/talking Sherman Tanks
    4. Why is it that FAMS has a 1-2yr turn over rate of Marshals
    5. Is there a life outside of this

I honestly think, that there is no rhyme or reason in which they are picking applicants. There have been people with substantial law enf exp hired and others with ZERO. Some with a combo of education and exp and some with either or. So i for one would like to know their method.

    I'm tempted to say...

I See FAMS on a normal basis... at work

I think they like a wide range of character traits... For the role...

Knowing they are all undercover.. You don't want all you FAMs walking around like they are Military or have the complete look that they are FLEO's... I've seen a few where you could just tell from their walk that they where well armed and where very percise in there actions...

Also, I think they don't want too much LE experience for I think they want to mold people to there Model... A fresh platform for a new program...

With all the Admin and Managment issues that FAMS and TSA have... I can understand why so... No one to see how or step up when the snuff hits the fan and the Marshal gets screwed.... Thus, hire someone that doesn't know any better

Just my thought on the Idea

I hope you're right. Thats where I think my strength is. I don't have any LE experience, mainly just education and some regular work experience. I think I can be molded into whatever they want me to be. I also think I am very good at blending in. I seem to be able to be in a group of people and not stand out or be noticed, unless I want to be. Hopefully that is something they want

    Fam

I will agree with that. Alot of the ex cops still look like cops when they are in the airports. It is the way they walk, dress, always looking around like someone is going to kill them, and the hircuts. I do not have that problem. I have alot of flight attendents say that I do not look like I am a FAM. I do not shave most of the time, I kind of dress down a bit(with out getting in trouble with my supervisors), and look way to young for this kind of work.

I do not think they are trying to hire everyone with out law enforcment background. I think they need FAMs as fast as they are leaving. And yes I think we have a problem of keeping FAMS here. I mean come on!, how long can you sit on a plane and do nothing all the time. It gets real boring and you get to meet lots of real special agents and get to talk to them and get to thinking that it is time for a change. SI can see ehy people leave in 2-3 years
