I read through the other FAM Posts and it looked like it was about a 5 month hiring process for thoose who posted they got picked up. Is there anyone else with time-line input? Also, Any idea how many they are hiring. Thanks

Mine so far is:
Mid november: apply and received COE
Mid February: Request for MED forms and appointment to get physical at FOH
February 06 - Applied online via AVUE
2 hrs later received COE via Email
In addition, submitted BI(SF-86)/Release forms and Medical forms
Waiting for PT Call or Med Exam:confused:
applied 8/05
panel interview 9/05
med 9/05
psych follow up 9/05
pta 2/06
offered job same day
start day 3/06
there really seems to be no rhyme or reason to the process, some go faster than others, it just seems like the luck of the draw. Good luck
Thanks for the info... It seems like most federal positions dont have a real set time line to them. It seems more individual based. Good luck to all of you.

Yeah, its also weird that some people get a panel interview before the med and some people, like myself, have the med first. I have not heard anything from them about an interview yet. Maybe they have interviewed people who got through the interview but failed the med, not too sure.Originally Posted by foxmulder

Good luck FOXMULDER, you are going to need it after you get out of the 14 week academy. Here is some advice once you begin flying, get more education(BS or MA or PHD), then get on with better jobs. You will see after 1 year flying that you want to move on. I am sure you are super excited as I was when I got hired. I was so damn happy the day I recieved my creds, but the "GOLD TIN"(badge) has faded and the flying all the time is a drag. But you will sure love the money! Evey time I feel that I am on the verge of a flying way to much break down, I get paid. Making close to $90,000 a year to do nothing is damn good!! If it was not for all the stupid supervisors and the idiot policys they come up with, this would be a great job.
Once again as I have said in the past: If you want to kick down doors serving warrants, arrest bad guys, get into fights with buttheads, going to court, do felony stops, WELL THIS IS NOT IT! We do none of that. The job is what it is. Sitting on a plane with crying babies, sick people, loud and rude passengers, bad food on the planes and in the airports, living out of a suitcase, never know when your shift ends due to the mercy of the airlines. And when you get that 5 hour delay and it all falls under LEAP, well you will just have to suck it and drive on soldier. Everyday I ask myslef why I am here but I then remember 9/11 and then I am glad to be an Air Marshal. I have a tape of that day and I watch it when I realy hate my job. I just pray I can do the job and do it right when the crap hits the fan. Because I can say this much about the job, as a FAM; you will already be on the losing side when the game begins. Due to all the crap being released to the press about how we work, well it does not take much to firgure out that the bad guys will know where you are sitting at and you will be the first one with a pen in the neck or eye.
GOOD LUCK AND HOPE TO SEE YOU FLYING THE FRIENDLY SKYS
thanks for all of the info guys. I'm prior fedleo (USCP) and i don't think it can get any worse than it is over there. I was fortunate enough to get into a speciality unit early on, and it still was not for me. stupid supervisors, and questionable people working next to you. i know the grass is not always greener on the other side, but USCP was just not for me (or many others, our chief resigned today). intheaircop, when i accepted the offer the HR lady told me that since I already had mixed basic, and was prior fedleo that I would only have to attend "Phase II"? do you know if this is true or not? i thank everybody for all of their info and insight, it is greatly appreciated!! Thanks again! If there are any questions about anything that i help with drop me a line.
Foxmulder that is true, if you are prior USCP or USSSUD you only need to attend phase II. You will be assigned to the FO to do miscellanous BS for the time being.
Hey Fox youll be in the same class as my buddy over here in USSSUD. Dont want to give names out, but look for a skinny guy with blond hair. Tell him Sobie gives him a shout out.
Yes you do not have to attend phase one. Phase one is for anyone who has never been in the FEDS before. Phase on is just a basic police training class. All that basic stuff that you already have. So you will begin in phase two and that is the bread and butter of what we do. Atlantic City and the Hotel that you will be in kind of sucks big time.
Listen up when you get the DELTA force breifing. Thos DELTA guys do not play. All I can say is when DELTA comes on the plane you better hit the deck or you will be shot. DELTA shoots first and that gold tin does not mean crap to them.
Oh! When you get issued your rescue jr. , try not to laugh when you get the class on the proper use of the equipment.
You missed our class. An entire group actually laughing so much the instructors ended up laughing with us at what a waste it was!! 2 hours on it!!!
-In God we trust. All others, put your hands on the car and don't move.
What's a rescue jr?
