FAM time-line

OK this is strange...I just received an e-mail notifying me that all FAM physical examinations have been restricted until further notice, and that I should cancel mine if I have one scheduled. However, the good news is that I just had my physical examination this past Wednesday. So what do you think is going on? Do you think I just made it under the wire? Are they putting a hold on things now? Any insight FAMs? Is this a bad sign?

I got the same email and my appointment is monday at 8 am! How can I cancel now? They said if I needed to cancel to call by friday and they sent the email late friday night.
I also have my interview and psych next week, so it doesn't even make sense.

Get used to it guys, the FAM service is just that way. They never seem to get it together. I bet it has something to do with either a money issue or because of the new director that just came in.

To Bigs knowledge there is no freeze, but as ITAC has pointed out, it may have something to do with the new boss occupying the throne.

Alright well 2 weeks after completing my physical examination and being cleared. I have received the call the my interview for the FAMS will be next week. So it looks as though things are still moving forward. Does anyone else know anything about the possibility of an April FLETC class? Also, should I expect to be completing the psych protion of the hiring process on the day of the interview? Thanks.

They seem to do it differently at every office. I had my physical last week, and I also had my interview and psych test at the FO. I just got the call that my med and psych cleared so they are scheduling my psych interview, hopefully that will be very soon and then all I will have to do is the PTA.

for those who are in the process, how long from the initial submission of BI release and medical forms through AVUE services, did you receive an initial contact call?

What follows the initial submission of all paperwork through Avue?

Well it has been different for all of us. Some people after they submitted all of the paperwork received a call to schedule their physical examination while others a call to schedule their interview. I received an e-mail, i believe within 2 weeks after submitting the paperwork telling me to schedule my medical examination. Good Luck!

So I was looking at some other forums and it appears that things are moving again with the FAMS. Two people in another forum have had their backgrounds checked and interviews scheduled. So lets hope things get moving for us all again.

I would gladly. Of course it would have helped if the FO I was at gave me the right fingerprint cards, which might be holding up my process. I was at the very end too :mad:

From what I am hearing is that they will start placing new hires in the other field offices some time at the end of the year. So for you guys who are still waiting for a start date I would pray they did not call me untill they start letting new hires goto other places except D.C. or N.Y. All the offices are hurting with the exception of Houston and Charoltte, N.C..

We were told the opposite. We were told that by the end of the year, the hub offices will be up to par and then some, and that all those who were originally promised a transfer, will have to put in a letter. They will evaluate things and transfer current FAMS to accomodate (at the employees cost though since it is a requested transfer). Once that is done, they will hire more, but they will still go to NY and DC.

I will believe the transfer thing when I see it. They have been telling us that since we began. We still have guys in a field office with their familys back at home. I bet the service will srew us once again and let new hires fill the open postions before they let us current FAMs goto a office of our choice. It seems that the service screws us as much as they can.
