I can not say what the "rescue JR. is on this public forum. All I can say is passengers will feel danger when they see it and it comes in handy when I have to gut a fish. LOL

I was curious. I have my Physical Exam tomorrow, I have not had a panel interview yet however. I noticed that in one of the timelines posted, the person was offered the job the same day as his PT test, is this normal practice of the FAMS? I was hoping the intheaircop2 could shed some light on this for me. Thanks.
It seems that there is no rime or reason for how they hire. We are not like any other federal agency. We do things different than everyone else. We hire alot faster than anyone else and seem to not weed out the idiots who make it in. I remember from the time I got the call for an interview back in 2002 it was only a week after the interview that they gave me 7 days to report to the FAM school in Artesia. It looks like it takes about 5 months now for the process.
Oh by the way: We are the only agency that does not have college tution reimbursment / help. The FAM service will not pay for any education at all. We do not have all the perks that other agencies have. Oh we are selective service also. We do not have a right to a union so they can fire you for whatever they want.
intheaircop2, This might be getting a little more personal but...is possible to have a good family life with a wife and kids while you are a federal airmarshal? I dont even know if you are married but I thought I would ask about how well homelife holds up with this sort of job. Again this might have already been addressed, but I am new to the forum. Thanks.
I just wanted to add my FAMS timeline to the mix.
Applied: 11/05
Conditional Offer: 1/06
Filled out B.I.: 2/06
Physical Examination: 3/06
So in my case they administered the $500 physical exam before conducting the panel interview? Is there any good reason for this? Why would they pay them before even meeting with me? Seems strange.
Oh and my background...I'm still new to this forum. I am 23 years old. I have a Masters degree in Criminal Justice, and minimal investigative experience at Atlantic City Casinos, but no formal law enforcement experience or training. Intheaircop2, do you think that my education will make up for my lack of LE experience?
My timeline is pretty much Identical. I have my med next week, and I just got a call scheduling my interview for the day after the physical. Not sure why they are doing the physical first for both of us, but we have similar qualifications. Although your Masters kills my B.S. Maybe its a good sign for both of us that they are doing it this way, maybe they want us in very soonOriginally Posted by EndlessEcko
Who knows.
Hey igneous where are you from? I am from right outside of Atlantic City, NJ the place where FAMS spend there final stage of training. Yeah, I'm hoping that they want up pretty bad. So you got scheduled for your interview? Hope mine is right around the corner.
Oh and does anyone know, intheaircop2, or anyone with any knowledge of the inner workings of the FAMS...Is there a scheduled start date for the next set of FAMS to be in Artesia?
I heard on another forum that the next class is in April, but I also heard they were under a hiring freeze at the moment, so I really don't know. Im from the boston area, so thats where my interview is going to be. Im just waiting for them to call me back, as they left a message but left me the wrong call back number.
Yes I do have a family and that is the main reason the job sucks for me. If I were single I would do this job untill I retire.
A masters or a BS is more than enough education for this job. As I said before, we are not investigators so no degree required. I hate to say this but this job seems to be a stepping stone into the govt.
I just thought of something...Does anyone know when the Background investigation actually begins on you? Does it not begin until everything else is passed and completed, or has it already begun? Just wondering...so I would know when to tell people who are mentioned on it to be ready to receive a call.
More or less.. They grant you one ( Security Clearence).. However they run a "records" check sort of speak to see if there is anything that stands out...
Then you go on thru the process...
At the end when your offical.. That is when they really being to start doing the diggin... So, just be prepared for they can still following you around at anytime and just keep your nose clean for they can show up at your door step anytime too...
That was the case with TSA... when I started.. Granted I don't have a Top Security Clearence... But one none the less...
As a new FAM they will just run a basic search such as what a TSA screener would get. Then they will give the new hire a temp clearance and then it will take anywere from 12 - 24 months to get the TS cleared.
I just pulled my credit report today and I noticed that the most recent inquiry said that it was pulled by UNIVERSAL CREDIT SVCS IN for the FAMS. I would take that as a good sign that things are moving forward. I'm still waiting on the Interview and the PT test though. Does any current FAM know of anything of the next scheduled class for FLETC?
My credit was looked at in Feb, I have my interview/psych exam and physical next week. I heard there is a class in april, but Im not 100% sure on that.Originally Posted by EndlessEcko
You mean "Excepted service". Selective service is what one has to do, when they turn 18, to register for the draft.Originally Posted by intheaircop2
