I just put in for a couple of announcements not too long ago. Not really in the hiring process per se, but hopefully I make it to a qualified list.

Most recently, I applied to the Savannah, GA vacancy for the GS-9 Inspector position. I also put in for the Inspector position in Maine.

Yes, I am currently in the process. I was given a T.O. in December for a Police Officer position in D.C. I am currently finishing up all my pre-employment requirements such as medical, BI, etc.

Can someone point me in the direction to learn more about FPS’ arrest authority and power?

40 USC 1315

(b) Officers and Agents.—
(2) Powers.— While engaged in the performance of official duties, an officer or agent designated under this subsection may—
(A) enforce Federal laws and regulations for the protection of persons and property;
(B) carry firearms;
(C) make arrests without a warrant for any offense against the United States committed in the presence of the officer or agent or for any felony cognizable under the laws of the United States if the officer or agent has reasonable grounds to believe that the person to be arrested has committed or is committing a felony;
(D) serve warrants and subpoenas issued under the authority of the United States;
(E) conduct investigations, on and off the property in question, of offenses that may have been committed against property owned or occupied by the Federal Government or persons on the property; and
(F) carry out such other activities for the promotion of homeland security as the Secretary may prescribe.

(e) Authority Outside Federal Property.— For the protection of property owned or occupied by the Federal Government and persons on the property, the Secretary may enter into agreements with Federal agencies and with State and local governments to obtain authority for officers and agents designated under this section to enforce Federal laws and State and local laws concurrently with other Federal law enforcement officers and with State and local law enforcement officers.

Maine is a beautiful place. The USA's #1 place to raise a family. I love it here, but my goal is federal so I will most likely give up a few years here.

What is your LE background? I always thought that you had to have prior LE experience to put in for an inpector position.

I work a couple projects up in Maine right now and I can't agree with you more about being a beautiful place.

No prior LE experience, however, have several years of the design and implementation of physical security components within land ports of entries and border patrol stations for CBP. I am project manager for several of these new construction projects and contracting officers technical representative (COTR) on several also.

I don't believe that you have to have prior LE experience to put in for an inspector position, at least I didn't catch it in this announcement. I could be wrong though.

No I didn't see prior experience for LE either.

Best of luck to you. I don't know much about FPS, but I know they guard the downtown federal buildings in Portland, and do patrols of the oil tanks in Casco Bay and the AMTRAK station on outer Congress Street. I don't know what else they are active in around here.

We don't usually guard any buildings, being that we have security guards for that. We respond to calls for service at federal buildings and enforce the CFR's and Federal Criminal Code on Federal property. We also attend national events as additional security and law enforcement presence, such as the Super Bowl, Kentucky Derby, etc.
