US Marshals - Aviation Enforcement Officer

Anybody have a little more about this position? I read the limited job description on USAJOBS it seems its one of the few ways to get into a USMS 1811 position. How much travel is involved? Due the 1802's and 1811's go through same academy/ training?

    Thanks for the info!

I do not believe it is an 1811 slot. It is like the detention officers on our JPATS (Justice Prisoner Alien Transport System, aka ConAir), in the sense it is not part of the normal operational USMS. I don't think that you can really look to it as a way to slide into an 1811 slot. 1811 positions are hired from the 082 pool.

The 082 and 1811 academies are competely different. The 1811s go through the 10 week Criminal Investigator school at FLETC, while the 082 program is a Basic Deputy course (I think about 6 weeks) put on by the USMS at FLETC.

The only other aviation slots that I am aware of are with our Technical Operations Group, formerly called the Electronic Surveillance Unit. These slots are filled only by 1811 personnel.

Here's the vacancy notice for it. It's a 1802 GS-06/07 position and based out of Oklamhoma City (Will Rogers Airport if I re-call). It's a 6c position because you have to be under 37 to get hired for it.....

    Good luck if you apply.....

Exactly what I thought. It is essentially a Detention Officer postion. All the JPATS people are completely separate from normal USM operational people.

LOL That just shows you how much I know, hence the "I think." I am the first to say that, in terms of the USMS, the personnel side of things is not my forte.
    ... I have never been an 082. :D

    Thanks.
