    Us Park Police

My question is directed to all current or retired USPP Officers:
I took the examine last year and since then I have completed all the requirements that have been asked of me. If I get accepted for this position, I am inquiring to know how much, if any overtime is available in New York office? And about how much?

I can't say for sure about USPP but for those jobs I do know about the overtime comes and goes with no telling how much, how long, or how offten it will be offered. I would guess that USPP are the same.

Overtime is one of those things that you take when it's offered because you don't know when it will be offered again.

BP makes a good point. Don't factor overtime pay into your cost of living. I know plenty of officers who would buy houses/cars and factor their overtime pay into the equation. There were time when the City cut down on the OT and you better believe these guys were hurting.

I don't know for civilian police agencies, fed or what have you... but when I was hired at a local county jail as a Corrections Officer I was not authorized to partake in overtime until I completed my probationary period... I don't know if that would apply to a Police Officer or not...

Didn't end up taking the job due to personal reasons (didn't want to shell out personal funds for uniforms/equipment).

Please....do not factor in OT when you are making financial decisions.

We had some guys where I use to work do that.....and go way, way over there head when the threat level was dropped and the OT went away.....

If I choose a career with the USPP, are there any positions that eventually get you to 1811?

The test from November had a tentative late april FLETC date. If that is still the case is up to the budget I guess.
