    CID transfer

If you work for the U.S. Army CID as an 1811 and you want to transfer to say, the FBI or DSS, can you transfer the number of years you worked for CID twords retirement from the DSS or FBI?

Generally NO. Special Agents with Army CID are almost exclusively military personnel (i.e. active-duty or reserve service members). This is different from NCIS (where most of their agents are civilian 1811's) or AFOSI (where the 1811 to military personnel is about 50/50).

HOWEVER, there are some CID 1811 civilian SA's, though these individuals generally only work fraud-related cases. They hire at the GS-09 level, so you'll need some substantial work experience in this field to get picked up by them (as opposed to applying for entry-level GS-05 or 07 slots). I do believe the 1811's are 6c-covered, and thus your retirement time would transfer over to any other 6c-covered position (1811 or otherwise), but again, these positions in CID are not generally entry-level.

I would think yes but ONLY if you were an 1811 civilian w/ Army CID, not active, reserve, or NG. They should be regular Fed employees.

    Bearcat06, am I right?:D

They should be.....but who knows. I have never met anyone that was a Civilian CID Agent. NCIS and OSI...yes....but never CID.

I know for a fact that if you are a CID Agent (Warrant Officer/Enlisted) you cannot get out of the Army and go straight into a 1811 position. You have to go through the same hiring process that everyone else has too do......

Civilian agent positions with CID are available, and you can find them posted from time to time on USAJobs.com by doing a series search for 1811. I know this because applied to one of their announcements (since I have a MS degree and it was a GS-09 announcement, I figured the worst they could say is "no")... and subsequently never got a response back from CID. :(

From what I've read in their announcements and through researching the position, the duties of a civilian agent with CID are almost exclusively fraud-related investigations.

    Civilian CID

Yes, Civilian US Army CID 1811's are 6c covered and therefore could transfer to any other 6c covered position.
