I have been it this situation before.
Am I a LEO ? Yes, why should I get verified to be treated by LEO's the same way I am treated in the streets? No thank you.
PS: Regarding the "How is that rude??" comment well, maybe rude wasn't the right word however I did find it to be alittle harsh. Thats just my opinion.
God bless and please be safe out there.
First of all, guys, let's keep the name calling out of it. That is not necessary.
Now, guess, I am sorry that you are so thin-skinned to take my comments personally. However, you are proving that you haven't a clue about how federal LE operates, particularly 1811 positions. It is extremely rare for you to be given a second look in the 1811 realm without redoing the entire process. Furthermore, anyone who has been through this process knows that it is a sheer blessing to make it through each step.
Guess, you say you have experience in the civilian world and the government sector. I hate to be the one to break this to you, but a fed desk-jockey is no comparison to a fed 1811. I took the test with 15000 other applicants. The USMS hired 150 of us off that test in the first year and 100 more the next year. Do you see any advantage for an agency to sit and wait for someone who is "tryingtop find themselves"? I don't think so. They go off to another extremely well qualified candidate and call it a day.
As I said, (agreeing with you) fed applicants should not put their life on hold. They should go on with their life as if the fed application is not even out there, taking further steps to make themselves more marketable all the time. That being said, when the call comes with a job offer, you will have to $h1t or get off the pot. The "average applicant" never gets the offer, it's the most competitive. If you think you are so squared-away that you are sure that you will make the "most competitive" category again, feel free to decline. Know that you are running a huge risk of NEVER getting that job. It's the applicant's decision, just know the risk.
