rbaxter,
I'm about to find out if I will go to Phase II. Apparently it's an all day affair. They fly you out the night before, put you in a hotel and you take the test/interview in a hotel conference room. They said they would notify by the end of June for the testing at the end of July.

Get a book on situational interviews to prepare yourself. All the questions will be based on life experiences YOU HAD and how YOU have responded. Make note cards that deatil twenty or so stories from your life that way you have a bank of "pre-thought out stories/responses" to tell rather than trying to recall/adlib them on the spot. Rehearse these stories over and over (make yourself a good story teller) and you'll be good to go.
From what I have been told, Phase II is a behavioral interview...which seems like the right type of interview for the position (I've studied interviewing in grad school). The important thing about a behavioral interview is how you answer the questions... that is, they are set up or set around you life experiences e.g. "tell me about a time when you had to use your leadership skills to accomplish a task"? Knowing the FBI is looking for experience and SMART folks this type of interview makes sense. Ok so now you have to know how to answer the questions. I just looked on-line under behavioral interviews... there is a ton of stuff (check out monster.com too). What I learned in school and what you'll find on-line is basically this: answer the question using the S.A.R. technique (some on-line places say S.T.A.R etc.) it's fundamentally all the same though. SAR= Situation, Assessment or Action, and Result. That is, what was the situation, what was your assessment or action in that situation, and what was the result. This all said, my response here is based on the notion that it's a behavioral interview. Ask the recruiter if they know the type of interview you are in, or prepare for the behavioral interview and than take the advice of others posted here... you should be covered all the way around. Last thing is, I also saw on-line "typical themes" of behavioral interviews.. this would be helpful too... that is, preparing for each theme (leadership skills, ethics, communication etc.).
Good luck!
