    Requirements for Federal Air Marshals

I am curious what the requirements for Federal Air Marshals are. I so far did not find anything, and thought this would be a good place to ask. Unfortunately, I do not have any law enforcement experience and no college degree, so I would probably bet that may rule me out. But if anyone can, please let me know what the requirements are, or what they look for.

    Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the replies everyone. Also, I did search the forum. I got some information, the link provided above from USAjobs.com helped. I tried calling the # their and left a voice mail. Unfortunately I was not here when they called and they left me a voice mail and now I was still un able to reach anything but voice mail again. I will keep trying though.

Again, I have no sort of law enforcement, military experience or even a college degree, so I do not think I can qualify. But I will wait to hear from someone to be sure.

It is not hard once you get the call for a start date. Just pass all the eazy written tests, shoot a 255 or better(eazy), and run a 1 1/2 mile run in less than 20 minutes. TOO EAZY!

I wish I can even get the call. But i guess it would help for me to even apply first!:D

Like I said, I don't have any law enforcement or military experience, so I will be honest and say I never even shot anything more then a airsoft BB gun.

The tests and running would be easy for me.

I have still been trying to call them back but get nothing but voice mail, They seem very hard to reach, I am so mad I missed their car.

I did not see anywhere on the website if it said you need to be 21. But i will not be 21 until july and would like to know if i can apply before.

1 1/2 miles in 20 minutes? Hell I could probably even do that and not even spill my beer.

I read recently where TSA was going to set up an internal hiring system for TSA Officers (formerly called Screeners) to hired/promoted to FAMS positions.

"TSA and the Federal Air Marshal Service are setting aside a certain number of air marshal positions for screening personnel." (SOURCE).

If you have no experience, and wish to be a FAM, this may be an option open to you (though I personally would pick to work in LE, or even the military, over being a TSA Officer).

Wouldn't this part mean pretty much any resonable job for 3 years is experience?

    "MINIMUM FEDERAL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Pay Band G: Qualifying experience for the SV-G level includes three (3)
years of general experience, 1 year of which was equivalent to the GS-4
level which shows ability to: analyze problems, gather pertinent data, and
recognize solutions; plan and organize work; and communicate effectively
orally and in writing. Such experience may have been gained in
administrative, professional, technical, investigative or other
    responsible work.
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: The experience requirement for
the SV-G level may be met by successful completion of a full 4-year course
of study in any field leading to a bachelor's degree from an accredited
    college or university."

    Too All

Yes it is true that they have an internal anouncment for all TSA screeners.

Now that does not mean they will get all the new postions. They still have

to meet the requirements. But yes, it seems like another scam to me. I heard

that so many screeners were leaving so they had to make something for

them to look forward to. I guess any job in the govt. is better then a

screener. But it is not hard to pass the training once you get hired. I guess

it is the same problem as it was when I got hired. So many people are

wanting this job and they only have a hand full of postions to fill. So good

luck to all that have applied. You all would be better off getting a local

police job then to become a FAM. But it may be getting better now that

the director is gone. We had a problem because the director we had was

a complete freaking retard. He made us wear suits seven days a week

because he said that we had to look professional if we had to make an

arrest. What a complete retard. I remember many times when a passenger

would lean over to me and say thank you for the job I was doing. It was

kind of easy to pick me out when I was flying on southwest on a Sunday

flying to Orlando in a suit and tie. The head of the DHS had to force our

director to lay back on the dress policy but most of the field offices still

have some sort of dress code. But it is ten times better than it was. That

Tom Quinn was 100% A HOLE. I am so glad the guy is gone and I only pray

he drops dead ASAP. The FAM service is now hoping we get a better director

than TOM QUINN. Hillary Clinton could of run the agency better.
