I haven't heard of any budget cuts in our training classes. The teletypes keep coming out with new class rosters, so I assume every thing is moving along...as well as can be expected.
I am currently in the process with the ATF, which is where I wanted to be in the first place. Anyway, I've retaken the TEA and completed the panel interview. I assume the holidays have slowed thing up a bit. The talk about budget cuts is very discouraging. I've also heard there will only be one class run this summer? Anything news to pass along would be very appreciated. Sobie and I are learning patience IS a vertue.
Welcome to RP...Good luck in your venture...Patience definately is a virtue in getting a position in the Federal World.

Why dont you post an introduction in the RAP Section of the Forum to introduce yourself, that way you will get a proper welcome.

    Good luck again.

Hey Nole795, where are you assigned? Belltsville? Im ud currently at the house. So your still hearing of SA classes going through? I sure hope so. also where you in the Dallas TEA group for ATF. I had my panel Oct 21....still waiting on next phase. Another guy at the house has already gotten his background packet. So why you trying to get out of USSS already?

Simply, I don't enjoy doing protection. The USSS is a top notch agency and are the best at protection which is definately the main mission. Personally, I don't view it as law enforcement and am stuggling to be satisfied. Shortly after graduation I almost went back to my old PD several times. Now I am glad I didn't. Also, I was never convinced the USSS was where my career would end. I wanted to be in the ATF, however I missed the hiring window. So I applied with other agencies and figured once I got in the system it would be easier to get where I want to be. Once in with the USSS I wanted to give it a chance. I feel I've done that. The ATF is still on my mind. Anyway, those and a few other reasons.
Maybe more than you bargined for, but you asked.

Boy that kinda sounded like I'm disgruntled...
I actually really really appreciate having gotten where I am. I have had some great experiences and there are some definate perks in the USSS. The pay is outstanding. I have heard too many agents say, "If it wasn't for the pay I would have quit a long time ago." I can't do a job just for the money. I have to enjoy what I do.
That's all I have to say about that.

Hey goodguys, Im right there with you on the protection thing. It definitly sucks. Standing around for eight hours or more waiting for you push gets old pretty quick. Im in the process for ATF, ICE, and USSS. I'll take whichever offers first, but I just think that it will be the service. Where you at WFO? I heard that other offices aren't that bad.

I'm in Michigan, which isn't bad at all. We traveled alot during the campaign like everyone else. But that has slowed down. I'm not really complaining, we've got it pretty good compared to the stories I hear coming out of WFO. I've got a couple of friends and classmates that are there.
I'm looking at the overall picture of where I want to be and do for the next X years. The USSS got me into the system and I vowed to give it a chance. Overall, not for me. Time to get where I wanted to be in the first place.
