USPP vs. NPS Rangers

Hopefully some of you kind folks can help me out here. I'm a bit confused as to the distinctions between U.S. Park Police, and NPS Law Enforcement Rangers. I know they're separate departments, but what creates the need for two separate L.E. agencies under the Dept. of Interior/NPS? Thanks.

Actually, NPS Rangers have been known to me more attractive than the USPP LEOs we have on here.....and have been known to supply beer to verifieds when requested...... :D

Actually, to set the record straight, we do much of the same work and oftentimes together. We've had LE Rangers come down to help us with DUI checkpoints recently and a bunch of us augmented them in Boston last year during the Democratic National Convention. We get a lot of the same training and do most of the same work, just in different areas.

But we still have sharper uniforms and a few more nifty toys. :cool:

We understand all of that. What we want to know is, who's better? :D

I have to disagree. NPS LE Ranger are much better. And we're cops just as much as USPP are. Plus we're EMTs and we do search and rescue. And we fight drug runners on the Mexican border and marijuana growers in our country (and I'm talking large scale). We have cool toys. I have a rifle, shotgun, kevlar helmet, big heavy vest, and ballistic shield in my patrol car every night. What does USPP have?

Unless I'm mistaken, the NPS LE Ranger is an 0083 position. But it is 6c covered.

And FYI, I'm being careful about what I post on this subject now. Last night someone unscrewed the bulbs in all my outside lights and there were fresh horseshoe tracks in the dirt... :eek:
