Anyone apply and make it this far for the interview?
Anyone apply and make it this far for the interview?
Apply if you have a solid GPA and an interest in working for the FBI. They select only a few candidates per state (like 1 to 3 for the entire state) and the interns work in D.C. I believe the honors interns receive GS-06 salary payment during their internship. I've heard it said from a FBI agent that due to the fact that they target students with particular academic backgrounds, it can be harder to become an honors intern than an actual agent with FBI (can't say how true that is, but with only a handful or less chosen per state, it seems reasonable), so if you're as student in a CJ program, don't get your hopes up. I did hear of one CJ grad student at my college (before I was there) who was selected, so you never know. Go ahead and apply. Worse they can say is "no", and then you'll be no worse off than you are now.Originally Posted by ASUsundevil5

Well, I made the final list of 10 applicants to interview, so we will see how it goes.
Thankful for making it this far, as I am very aware of how competitive the program is.
Outstanding, ASU. Maybe there's something special about you after all. :pOriginally Posted by ASUsundevil5
Good luck with the remainder of the process.

Thanks ROS, I'll let you know how the interview goes!
Great job ASU! I'm so jealous! If you don't mind sharing, what is your major and how did you apply for it? I have always heard that Federal LE internships are near impossible to get....your last name doesn't happen to be Mueller, Bush, Rice, Rumsfeld or anything along those lines does it?? :p
The honors internship with the FBI is extremely competative, but I wouldn't make that generalization for all federal LE internships. I did an internship last fall with USSS, and I believe I was the only one to apply for it. True, if you live near a large FO you will have more competition to deal with, but if you have a solid GPA and academic records, a clean background, and you show that you have an interest in the agency and can represent it in a professional manner, it shouldn't be too terribly difficult to do an internship with the likes of DEA, ATF, USSS, ICE, USPIS or others. Just be sure that if you want to do an internship, you call your nearest FO, as the information provided on an agency's main website may not be the most up-to-date or speak for all the FO's in regard to positions available.Originally Posted by Redman

Thanks for the info ROS, it sounds like a good way to get a foot in the door. I'll give it a try.Originally Posted by ROS

2) FBIJOBS.gov --> list of interns, (I applied to HIP from your FO)
3) AFOSI also has an internship which is not publicized as much as the FBI program, but is still a great opportunity. IMO better chance of getting on board with AFOSI vs. the FBI for the summer. Also, both pay GS-6/GS-7 for undergrad/grad, so it definitely is worth applying to.
I find out next week if I made the "Top 5" from my FO. From there, applications are sent to HQ for the final decision.
Congrats ASU! I see you must have turned in a solid essay to make it this far.
Hmm... this sounds interesting. I will need to keep this in mind in a few years. Working for the FBI is certainly a possibility for my future.
