Ladies...it is apparant that I have the dream gig. Not only do I have the bankers hours, but I get to go to a GS 13. And I will never be sent to a third world country...

I'll put our door kicking up against anybody. :D
Yesterday, my two groups hit 22 houses, locked up 21 violators, mostly Vietnamese gang members, seized a bunch of dope and money. We also seized two AR-15's (one equipped with a night vision scope), an SKS, a pile of handguns, and a bullet proof vest.
I tell you, the testosterone was flowing like water from a fawcet. And, from the girl agents, too! ;)

And, as far as the original question, Switch got it about as good as possible without more specific questions. It would kind of be like asking you what it is like to work for the military and how are the various branches different. Give us more specific questions and we will try and help.

We're still fighting to get above GS-06. This has nothing to do with this thread, but a good chance to rant. We do some of the same duties as GS-12 positions. But we fought for GS-07 and it got shot down. Needless to say I have about a dozen OF-612's floating around out there.

Thanks for all the input ladies and gents. I'm am infantryman with the Marine Corps, and any jobs along that are related to that typed of work would be ideal.
Oh yea well today I waited 9 hours for a target to come and pick up his dope, which he never did. I had to eat the greasiest fried chicken and a nasty ham and cheese kolachee while freezing my butt off in the cold weather. That was riveting, I will take a stagnant surveillance that leads to absolutely zilch then a successful one where you get dope and guns...not.Originally Posted by Group9

With us, it really depends what kind of group you are in. I have been in major investigation groups where we only hit a few places a month, and I have been in task force street units where we sometimes hit 25 places a week. When I was in Baltimore, on a joint city task force, each officer had to get five search warrants a month to get a good eval and they nearly wore us out doing warrants. I had way over 500 entries on warrants in one year there, about that many hands on arrests on the street, and more chases and fights than I can remember. But I also got injured so many times (once pretty seriously) in the three years I was in that group that I don't think I would have made it 20 years if every one of them had been in that group.
Our problem is it takes so long to build a case on a big dealer that you just can't do that many of them. With smaller dealers that you can make a case on in only a few hours, (where it takes longer to get the warrant than it did to make the case ) we can run the score up. :D
