    White Sands ( Security Guard)

I got a CO from White Sands Missile Range as a Security Guard. I am not sure it I want to take it. I was hoping someone could give me some insight to what is the difference between a Security Guard and Police on an Army Installation, and maybe what I can expect from the job..I know they have job descriptions on the annoucements. I was just hoping someone could give me some personal experiences.

Thanks guys for all your help..

Police Officer (series 0083) will patrol the base.
Security Guard (series 0085) will be guarding things like the front gate, bldgs, and other high threat areas.

I think the Security Guards at White Sands also have a response team for one of the places they guard. I have a buddy there that works as a Security Guard.

PM me and I will try to hook you up with him....

I am a D.A. Police officer, our job is law enforcement on the instillation such as patrol, traffic, and investigations. We have private security at the gates and D.A. security at the hospital. If you would like to become a D.A. Police officer then a year as a guard would probably help you if nothing else get you into the federal system, assuming this is a position with the department of the army.
How did you find out about the job? Was it through CPOL or OPM or another souce?

I'll help you out in any way I can, I just went through this myself.
    Good luck.

If I were you I would go ahead and jump on it. It will get you the experience you need to get to that next step (D.A. Police Officer). The police at White Sands are all P.O.S.T. certified from what I understand and if you get to know them it will make it that much easier for you when the time comes. It will get you into the system as well. Make sure to keep resume up to date on CPOL, DON'T NEGLECT IT JUST BECAUSE YOU GOT A JOB!!!!!!

    Best of luck to you.
    Give a shout any time.
    JRA out.
