FBI Police Officer Info

Does anyone have any information on the FBI Uniform Police Department (background, policies, etc.)? They staff the lab in WV, New York, Quantico, and D.C. Any information would be appreciated.

I will be going to Washington in December for the written exam, interview and physical agility test. My background is done. They are uniformed officers providing law enforcement and security functions at the FBI headquaters, Training site at Quantico and New Youk

I work with some of them. They are where my department was five years ago. Most of there posts in DC are static. But they have patrols in Quantco, VA(sp) most of the guys I know like it, but wish they were treated a little better from the Agents. I have seen agents speak to them like dirt. Good luck with the test, hollor when you get here and If you have time I will get you a tour of the Pentagon. They do have high standard at work, for what I see. No forgiveness there. Screw up and your gone. But I think most Depts up here have that.

I think they are trained to do that to everyone, not just uniformed Police. :D

No, it is not a 6c-covered position.

Right now the only 6c covered 083s up here are Park, Uniform Secret Service and Capital. We are up in front of congress for it as well as Mint and Tresuary.

Supposedly we in CBP are finally getting a serious shot at getting 6c coverage. I will believe it when I see it.

A little info for anyone interested...
The Federal Protective Service (FPS) used to provide security at FBI-HQ until 1987, when approximately 30-40 FPS officers were then sworn in as FBI Police Officers.

Here are some key facts (all open-source):
By the way, there is 1 Vacancy right now for a Supervisory Officer at Quantico (GS-12, closes 10/28/05)

-0083 position, not 6c covered
-Position is unique in that all officers are required to obtain a Top Secret security clearance (supposedly a 95% disqualification rate of applicants)
-10-week Mixed basic training at FLETC in GA, FBI Academy training add-on (3 weeks I think at Quantico)
-USSS/CIA/FBI are all better-known for their plain clothes investigators
-Provide security at FBIHQ, Quantico, WV (CJIS facility), New York Field Office
-Also provde securty at certain Special Events like Olympics
-Duties will vary at each of above locations, but "badge-checking" is a main duty in most locations
-WV (Clarksburg - CJIS) officers have some neat toys, ATV's, etc
-Almost HALF of the police force are minority or female
-Lost a lot of officers in 2002 in the big FAM's rush
-Since bombing of Murrah fed building in Oklahoma City in '95 and 9/11, FBIHQ and Quantico police have been on mandatory 12-hour shifts
-Shortage in staffing all around
-May begin placing FBI Police Officers at other large field offices such as Chicago, Houston, Miami

-If you want a federal uniformed job in DC, and want to do more "police" work than security work, look to the BIG 3 agencies: US Park Police, US Capitol Police (Patrol Division), and US Secret Service Uniformed Division (specifically Foreign Missions Branch).
