I've been invited to take the NCIS SA Test Battery in Sept. Anyone else taken it before? Anyone have any insight on what to expect (like whether it is similar in format to the TEA or ICE Test)?

My new hero!
Ros,
I haven't taken it, but I am under the latest announcement that they put out. From what I saw of the NCIS agents that I dealt with while in the Navy, they were pretty squared away and had full case loads. You can expect some sea time too. Most of the crew know who you are, and they will look and view you with about as much love as the person who farts in a crowded elevator. Who cares! Here's to hoping you do well!
"Kid, I've sat on the department ****ter longer than you've been a cop." (CatDoc to Chevy SS, the single greatest post ever on RP!)
Moon Pies and RC Cola make me happy
ROS I took it and passed it, however, I never took any other Fed tests so I cant compare it to anything. It has reading comprehension, I thought it was pretty tough, harder than the LSAT, but I also did drive in the night before and only slept for 4 hours. The other major part is a Personality Test. So there is nothing much to say about that.
All in all it's not too bad. If you have any questions let me know, I have several friends who are agents, and some that just started.
So if I'm understanding you correctly, the test is composed of two parts. The first is reading comprehension, and the second is a personality test. Are there any other sections of the test (arethmetic, logical reasoning, etc.). If not, it sounds pretty straight forward.Originally Posted by nyco2929
Also, nyco, you said you took the test and passed. Are you currently in the SA application process with NCIS? If so, what is your background?

Hey ROS,
Please let me know how it was when you're done. I am dragging my feet, but still plan on applying for NCIS in the future. Also....good luck!!!!!!!!!!!! :D
ROS,
Now that I remeber the test is actually 3 parts (I took it last september, so I am a little hazy), with the other 2 parts I spoke of and a background survey. I was in the NCIS process along with a couple of local PD's, I got picked up by NYPD (I am in the Academy now) for some family and personal reasons I decided to stay here (just did not want to do the moving thing anymore, I have been gone for almost 10 years), so I have pretty much ended my process with NCIS.
My backgound is BA, 5 years computer programming experience, and I recently recieved my JD.
I am not sure what your background is, but most of the applicants I knew had a Masters degree or strong language credentials, some from other federal agencies, some have Military backgounds and a lot of the older Agents have prior local law enforcement. I did not meet too many new Agents with local PD experience, but then again I was interning at HQ where most of the Agents are older.
As for a timeline it varies on the applicant, one of my buddies made it through in 8 months, others I know passed the test in Spet. and still are waiting.
Best of luck - a great agency with a great mission. Any other questions feel free to post or PM me.

Just wanted to update those who may take the NCIS SA Test Battery that I took the exam this morning. If anyone needs any insight on what to expect, feel free to PM me. There is, of course, a non-disclosure agreement, so there is info I cannot give (i.e. specific regarding the questions), but I'll be glad to help anyone who is in need.

Ros--Overall, how do you think you did?
I felt pretty good when walking out, but you never can be too sure about the tests for 1811 positions. Time will tell...Originally Posted by ASUsundevil5

Besides NCIS and ICE (?), what other exams have you taken lately? In addition, if you don't mind, could you provide a time frame for each agency and where you are currently in the process..
thanks
Found out today after speaking to my recruiter...Originally Posted by ASUsundevil5
