    NSA police/investigators

I was looking on NSA's site at these positions, but it doesn't have any of the requirements for the job. Does anybody know anything about the position, good or bad. I'm graduating college next May, and thought maybe I should look into it. Seems like it could be interesting. Thanks for any advice before hand.

I went through the academy with a bunch of the NSA Police guys. It is basically a 0083 job description, police officer with physical security responsibilities. Most of the guys I know were using it as a stepping stone. They said basically anything you encounter is turned over to the Military Police who patrol the fort.
The older you get, the better you get, unless of course you are a bananna.

NSA police are different from NSA investigators. NSA police are, as stated previously, 0083 federal uniformed LEOs who have duties similar to Security Protective Officers (SPO) with CIA. Like other 0083's, they go through their initial training at FLETC. I've heard that their training is very good, but their opportunities to use such training are few and far between. Also, as stated above, the position is used by many as a stepping-stone into later FLE positions.

As for the NSA investigator positions, I don't know a lot about them. I'm not even sure if they are 1811's (i.e. criminal investigators) or simply general investigators (i.e. doing background investigations on NSA applicants).

EDIT: Here is some information I received recently at another forum from someone recently selected for the CIA's SPO position, which may be similar to what you can expect for NSA police: "I can give you a generic overview. Basically, after you apply online, it is a waiting game as to how long before you get hired. I believe I was contacted 5- 6 months after my submission, then from my original interview date, it is almost 1 year to the date."

You may also want to do a search of these forums and the forums at 911jobforums.com to find out more information covered previously.

Such a shame to go through all that training & never get to use it. It's like hitting a ball against a wall all the time, honing your strokes & technique, but never playing a real tennis match.

    Doubles anyone?

When I was stationed at Ft. Meade, MD (the home of the NSA) the NSA Police guys had great equiptment, got paid fairly well, and were treated good......they were just bored stiff standing a lot of foot posts and driving around in circles a lot.
Depending on what the incident was, it was usually turned over to us (MPs) to handle. Every now and then, some of their "MIBs" would come out and want to talk to folks that were acting hinky around the buildings and/or make sure that they would get them a copy of any reports that were made or at least a good FI card on the person that was stopped.
