DSS Anyone?

Has anyone applied for the DSS Special Agent opening that is now available? I completed the online test consisting of an essay and a ton of questions and it said I passed at the end. However, it tells you that your score will be evaluated against others who passed to determine if you will get an actual interview or not. It also says that you foot the bill for travel to interviews, etc.

Does anyone have any experience with this agency? Positives or negatives? Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Supposedly DSS positions are incredibly competitive, I believe a language is a real plus.

A buddy of mine in the Army is doing an internship with DSS right now and has had the opportunity to either witness/participate in a little of their training. (I don't mean necessarily as a trainee, but as a role player and other such things as I recall.)

He told me there are a lot of ex-military special forces guys there, but also guys with no military/LE background as well. My impression is that the training is somewhat para-military.
