FBI - Special Agent opinions of Investigative Specialists

If there are FBI Special Agents on this board, would you share your opinion of the Investigative Specialist position and what SA's think about the respect level towards IS's?

I am following through on a hiring process for the position and it would NOT be a stepping stone to an SA position due to my age (39). I would like some honest opinions and thoughts regarding the position, how IS's are percieved and the growth opportunities possible. How often are you relocated?

The reason I post this, is I am also well into the hiring process for a local sheriff's dept. which is an outstanding dept., great pay, respect and work location. I will have to make some decisions very shortly (provided of course all goes in a positive hiring direction for both agencies) and I want to be as well informed as possible.

Please feel free to email (PM's store up too quickly, not enough room) me so that no one is offended by the opinions shared on this board.

You can email me through my member listing

    Thank you......

Speaking of steping stones and age on the SA part, are there any?

A friend mentioned that employment in other Federal uniformed divisions can then transfer to these positions. Does this really happen?

I would appreciate some stories here.

I am not sure I understand your question, but if you are asking if age is relevant to transfer to uniformed federal police officer positions, the answer would be not necessarily. Most uniformed federal P.O. positions don't have an age limit, barring the ones which are 6c covered. I know the USSS UD have an age limit and I believe the USPP also has one, due to they being 6c covered. I am not sure if there are any others, though the BOP are also covered and have an age limit. I am sure any other members can give more info is this indeed is your question.
