Once again FBI SSG or Investigative Spec.

A few days ago I spoke to an AC in DC about the SSG program. He told me I would be in the March 28th training class and my EOD date was March 21st. he said he would confirm it later that day so I should call him back. I called him back and he advised me that they had canceled that date and the class would be pushed back a few weeks. There are also limited areas that people nwould be assigned to. This process has been a pain in the a$$ to be honest. May will be 2 years for me from the time of application. Thats all the information I have at this time.

I'm sure it has probably changed since I was in, but SSG's used to be used for nothing but FCI work, and only in major cities where there was a need for extra surveillance capability, (i.e New York, Wash. DC, Los Angeles). They were probihited from being used on general criminal investigative work so that kind of limited what areas could use them.

Glad to see I am not the only one frustrated beyond belief. cmras, you are farther along than I am. They still haven't let me know the outcome of my background. If they postponed the class start date, maybe there are a hand full of other applicants about to have their backgrounds done, and they want us all to start training at the same time.

Well that's the Feds for ya. It seems that a lot of Federal LEO classes that were slated for March & April 2005 have been canceled for who knows what reason [e.g. US Park Police (I was hoping to get in that class), Capitol Police, etc.} Of course those were all at FLETC. This is the 1st class I've heard canceled at the Q this year--assuming SSGs & Investigative Specs. train there. Two years huh? Well, you've come this far, you've overcome that back issue, & you did get an "unconditional" job offer right? Well, I'm sure you've become accustomed to "hurrying up & waiting" by now. Hang in there, you just gotta wait a little bit longer. Your time will come...

They are probably figuring on a huge budget fight and a possibility that the government will stop spending money (and non-essentials don't work). If there is that kind of freeze it would screw up your training since you are probably non-essential until you are finished. Rather than dealing with that possibility they are postponing until the budgeting is completed or looks to be a done deal. I was living in DC a few years ago with the government "shut down" for a while. What a circus.

I called DC this morning and was advised that a decision was supppose to made this week in reference to training and hire dates and phone calls will follow. But I have heard all this before, hopefully it is true.

That would be great if they finally made a decision this week...but like you I have heard this before... Sure would be nice to find anything out...if it is going to be awhile it would be nice if they would tell me that...I can wait..but I hate waiting by the phone. I am going on vacation in a week... at least I will be able to do that... not likely we will get turned around that quickly. Guess we will be at the Q together...
