Holy cow, I just checked out the women's fitness standards for the USMS. I need to work on my flexibility, but the push-ups....!!!! Only 24 for excellent? No superior category? They don't think any girls can do more than 24?!?!?! I do sets of 25! SETS! And don't anyone even think for one second that I'm doing girl push-ups either!

I'm shaking my head in shame. The 20-29 yo female standards for pushups are less than those for guys over 60. Come on ladies! We can do better than that!

There are usually 2 PT (and firearms too) "standards" you have to pass at FLETC: one for your agency & one for FLETC itself. FLETC standards are a big joke & since you're a Marine I'm sure you wouldn't have a problem with the USMS standards. They have one of the better ones there.

I don't remember there being a duck pond at FLETC? I had my grad party at the gay bar (we pulled a fast one on legacy INS & "acquired" their 1/4 keg--those silly Inspectors!). Is it anywhere near there?

    Mettalicat:
Yes, it's how many push ups & sit ups you can do in a row in one minute I believe. It was always that damn sit & reach test that always killed me.

No, its on the other side of the compound. It is the little pond that would be on your right as your driving from the store/mess hall twords the main gate.

Metal, those are the numbers to be done in 1 minute.

Coyote, I had to pass FLETC standards in CI school, too. I hAd to do the USMS standards to get down to FLETC, the USMS fit test upon arriving, and then the USMS fit test prior to graduating the Basic Deputy course that followed CI school.

thanks alot for the info for all the physical stuff..

Switch, so what weapons are tested?.. i've fam'd and qualed with a few different weapons.. but for handguns i've only fired a .45 gi issue, the barretta 9mm and .357mag... Whats the basic load/weapon the usual USMS 082/1811 carries? for concealabilty do you guys carry sigs? never fired one of those, but the DS guys here carry them

from the 25yrds and in? and 60 rounds? almost sounds like the USMC pistol range.. are there time drills in the qual?.. another quick question.. i've been trained to draw from the holster on the waist, does the USMS use the same holster position or a diiferent one?

that was quite a few questions..

wow, the pt stuff doesnt sound bad at all, if i were to get to training (its a set goal, so most likely).. i hope bad luck doesnt ensue and an alligator bites off my foot during a run..

For the firearms portion of CITP (1811), you will most likely be firing a Sig Sauer 9mm and a 12 gauge 870 for the shotgun. If your agency sends your firearm down, you can use it instead of one of the range guns. Even if your agency doesn't send your gun down, make sure they give you a NICE holster before you come down. The flea tec holsters are really cheesy uncle mikes. Thankfully my agency gave me a nice new holster before I left for Glynco....

All USMS handgun training will be with the Glock 22 unless you are with SOG (and that is another story). I'llthrow up the qual course when I get a chance.

Switchback did bring up a good point. Even with 1811's there are NUMEROUS guns issued among agencies. In my CITP class, which represented several agencies we had a mix of all kinds of Glocks and Sig Sauer's. I miss my Glock I carried as a local, but have become proficient with the Sig.

As for scores, that is agency specific. Some agencies have their own course of fire. And even for the FLETC course of fire, some agencies require 80% or higher to pass (rather than the 70% standard).

Up until a little over a year ago, 1811s in the USMS could carry most any type of firearm that they wante, in a variety of calibers. Only recently did we also go to the standard Glock 22. No complaints by me. I was a G31 guy, so all the gear fits, even if it is a downgrade in caliber.

Anywho, I am attaching the handgun course of fire. In addition to that, we must shoot at least 1 of several tactical courses, an AR/carbine course and a shotgun familiarization each time we qual (minimum of every 6 months).
