Glad you enjoyed your trip to DC! Think your questions were taken care of already. But just to add that there are a ridiculous number of LE agencies here, from all levels. Arlington County (which is only 26 square miles) alone has jurisdictions for the county police and sheriff, Metro Transit, State Police, Pentagon Police, USPP, Ft Myer Military Police, FPS, and the Airport Police at Reagan National.

Of course thats not even counting all of the security guards you have in all the Federal office buildings in Arlington. This goes for the rest of the areas as well, most of the federal buildings have contract security guards that do the physical security.

Hey Ranger__101, doesn't HR 218 cover you guys? Or do you have to leave your creds at work every night?

    Ranger 101:
How do you like working as an officer at a Federal Reserve Bank? Is it like working for the Bureau of Engraving or US Mint Police?

Carrying a gun as Federal in DC

I am a member of the Pentagon Police. Currently, we are allowed to carry OUR OWN weapons off duty, however our new chief is working on changeing that. We are not only certified as Federal Police, but one of the few Federal agencies that is named in the VA code as accepted agencies to function in Virginia(along with UD, Park and the "big boys) I have no problems in DC, as now just about everyone has agreed to the Norton act. This is a far cry from how it was. I remember when we had to turn in not only our weapons, but the cred at the end of the day. A Cap Police could verifiy this, but I believe we still have to lock up in the Capital as well as the White house. I have carried in Monuments, the Smithsoinian and the Holocost. Mostly it is based on common sense and respect. Good luck in your future.
I'ld like gansta rap more if it wasn't about killing people like me!

It's not even a problem at the White House. There is a special entrance you go to and you just check your gun like you were going into federal court.
