I'm not sure what kind of guy the new PA Constable that just showed up on here......but the other one burnt us......and that will be a problem for him to overcome....no matter how good of a person he/she is.....Originally Posted by steelcityk9cop
Thanks Bearcat... all I'm asking is that you guys judge me for MY posts. Just because someone else who happened to have the same title as me was here and obviously didn't work out, doesn't mean that every person having that title will act, respond, or even think the same way. Actually, chances are better that him and I are VERY different. We are all trained not to jump to conclusions right?
EXAMPLE:
In November of 2004, a former Pennsylvania Police Chief was convicted on federal theft charges...
It would be wrong to conclude that every officer in that particular department (based only on their title as an officer of that dept.) would act in the same manner.
So:
Because one PA State Constable has done someone wrong...
It would be wrong to conclude that every PA State Constable will be the same.
Better yet, PA Constables typically do not work in groups (usually not more than a couple or a few working together), and are scattered throughout the state... each county making their own restrictions on how their constables must conduct business. Saying that any 2 constables are alike is kind of like saying that all people in Pennsylvania who drive a Chevy are the same.
btw,
if I may I ask... What did he do that caused so many people to hold all constables to his level? I'm very curious, as well as very upset that someone who wears the same patch as me would promote such a bad image for the rest of us.
Thanks for reading!

I'm really wondering why nobody wants to say what the guy did to burn you all...
Is it something secret? It seems like it was a pretty big deal to some people & I'd really like to know what it is that some people are talking about when it is said that this guy burned you.
Thanks,
Tony

I Have no idea what you are talking about....
maybe no one else does either. :D
He came on here and trolled in his off-time because he thought it was cool. A bunch of folks (myself included) went to bat for him to get him verified.........and it all got pissed down the drain when we found out he was a troll from a while back.....just because he thought it was a fun thing to do..... :rolleyes:Originally Posted by tgis81

Constables in Maine.....
§2673. Constables
Constables shall be appointed in the same manner and with the same effect as special police officers under section 2672. Persons injured by the neglect or misdoings of a constable have the same remedy by preliminary action and action of the constable's bond, as in the case of a sheriff's bond. For services which may be performed either by a deputy sheriff or a constable, the constable is allowed the same fees as a deputy sheriff, unless otherwise provided. [1987, c. 737, Pt. A, §2 and Pt. C, §106 (new); 1989, c. 6 (amd); c. 9, §2 (amd); c. 104, Pt. C, §§8, 10 (amd).]
1. Carrying weapons. A constable's certificate of appointment shall state whether or not the constable is allowed to carry a weapon, concealed or unconcealed, in the performance of duties. If a constable is restricted in carrying a weapon, this prohibition is not affected by any weapons license the individual may possess. [1987, c. 737, Pt. A, §2 and Pt. C, §106 (new); 1989, c. 6 (amd); c. 9, §2 (amd); c. 104, Pt. C, §§8, 10 (amd).]
Special police officers of limited jurisdiction may be appointed for a term of not more than one year and as provided in section 2671, subsection 1. These officers have all the powers of a police officer, except as specifically provided by charter, ordinance or the certificate of appointment. [1987, c. 737, Pt. A, §2 and Pt. C, §106 (new); 1989, c. 6 (amd); c. 9, §2 (amd); c. 104, Pt. C, §§8, 10 (amd).]

OK Tgis81,
You are Act 120 Certified ? (This is the PA certification required of all municipal police officers that is 5 MONTHS long, Constable certification is 2 WEEKS. )
You are called by 911 dispatch to respond and handle accident investigations ?
You are called by 911 dispatch to handle domestics ?
You are called by 911 dispatch and handle anything ?
You have made how many criminal investigations ?
You have initiated how many criminal charges ( not just the physical collar) ?
You have made how many DUI arrests ?
You have obtained and served how many search warrants ?
You have an emergency vehicle ( as defined in Title 75) to respond to calls with ?
You have a badge and ID issued by a police dept. that says " Police Officer" on it ?
I know a few constables in my area who are very good at what they do and I use them frequently. There is a PA definition that says that Constables are Police Officers but does not in any way confer the full police powers that I have. Sort of like being elected to be a Constable but NEVER getting any of the training to actually do the job.
