One of the guys in my filed office was taking the pysical today for customs agent 1811, so I guess they are hiring again.

It may depend on the position and when you applied for it. I applied for a FPS Uniformed Police Officer position last year. I interviewed twice, did the physical, and did all the background paperwork. Been waiting ever since. Background guy won't return calls, hiring people won't return calls or emails, etc......
Finally a couple of weeks ago, I get an email from the HR Lady out of KC who tells me that all the FPS spots in KC are on hold till whenever due to budget issues......
Needless to say, I am looking more harder than I was with other places......

I just finished the police academy in FLETC with FPS on October 14th and we were told by the instructors that we wouldn't be hiring anymore until fiscal year 2006. However, they stated that possibly January and May of 2005 that they would be running the mixed basic police academy leading me to believe that anyone who is in the near hire mode for FPS would be sent using the current year budget. I believe you could possibly be in a pool in which they are just waiting for enough to fill the academy classes coming up before giving you a final offer. Keep the faith and good luck.

One of my friends left the FAM service and has been in GLYNCO for an 1811 slot he got with the US Coastguard. He said that most of the guys in his class are ICE agents, so I guess they are hiring. He is in his 6th week.
