Anyone with knowledge of federal jobs please help

I've been trying to find work for a while now, but I am hampered by poor eyesight and the fact that I can't run worth a damn. Yet, I'd prefer not to have to "settle" too much. Are there any federal jobs that involve some sort of investigative or crime related work without a vision requirement or physical agility test? I'm looking for something I can do and be interested in for a while, until I can afford the lazik, or at least get myself in better shape. Any suggestions on non-federal jobs I should look at would also be appreciated.

There are federal jobs like that. DEA has a Diviersion Investigator position, responsible for investigations of pharmacies and doctor's compliance with distribuiton of scheduled controlled substances.

Other agencies have similiar positions. A downside is that competition for these jobs is intense and you could probably be in shape and recovered from Lasik surgery enought to apply for a Special Agent position in the time it would take to get hired in one of these jobs, anyway.

You might want to look into support or analyst positions with the FBI, DEA, etc., etc., etc. They are still involved in LE but not necessarily the ones kicking down doors & serving warrants. You could do that, get your foot in the Fed system, gain valuable experience, & earn $$ for a later LASIK operation which could lead to further LE positions. If it wasn't for my LASIK surgery, I would not even be able to apply for about 99% of Fed jobs.

It's hard to say depending on your experience. If you have a 4 year degree it will open up more doors for you. Of course it also depends on if you are willing to move.

If you are looking for anything nationwide, try searching on www.usajobs.opm.gov for position titles of Investigative Assistant, Operations Support, or Investigative Technician. If you have any intel experience, the FBI has a number of Intelligence Analyst Positions open that make good money.

You may also want to go to www.usajobs.opm.gov and do a 'Series Search'. When it asks for the Series Number Search, try the numbers 18 and 00. Both have positions in Law Enforcement, some are non-sworn desk positions that wouldn't require a PT test. As to the vision, I'm sure they would accept big black horn rimmed glasses.
