Checking Immigrant Status

Any ICE guys or other who knows...........Can a citizen check on and discover if a person is an immigrant and learn the status of that immigrant?

I know I can call ICE and ask, but it is after hours and a weekend.

Wouldn't it be open 24/7? I think they are down here. If they don't answer over in Texas, you could probably call Lukeville, Arizona. =O)

I am an ICE agent and I have no idea Tex. Of course I am legacy Customs, but have had the immigration training (2 weeks). My guess is that there is a process, and it wouldn't be immediate. So I am not going to bother one of my compadres after hours on a weekend to ask. I will ask on Monday when I return to the office.

That would be great. I can file an Open Records Request if I just know where to send it. I called earlier and there is a painful recorded, "press 1 to stay on hold for hours, press 2 to be disconnected after being on hold for hours", etc.

I am doing an investigation and info has popped up and the subject might be illegal, and he is Middle Eastern.

Jump him, 'Cuff him, and drive him to the border and tell the BP that he held you up while stopping to change a tire or something and that you overcame him and now you are giving him to them as you thought he may be illegal since he came at you from the south! ;)

We just contact the ICE office. The agents generally are more than happy to do a BI on a suspected IA.

I am an IEA with ICE. Many times an NCIC check will reveal an A# which means he is an immigrant. If he has been deported in the past that usually shows up as well. If you get a probable NCIC match with a COB other than US and an A# there is an 1-800 ####### you can call to see if there has been any activity with the case A#. If there is a Border Patrol station or ICE office near you they may be willing to run additional checks (CIS, DACS etc) If you can't get an answer send me a PM and I will give you my office #.

okay, i guess i've been gone for too long. if i had read this sooner, i could've called the station and gotten an answer for you. there is a border patrol station in the dallas area, but i doubt any of those guys actually work nights of weekends.

so what became of this guy?

Not much the office in the NW could do for you, their advice was to contact the ICE office in your' local area.
