I'm planning on learning one or two languages on my own for my own pleasure and to improve my appeal in the eyes of federal agencies. I was thinking of learning Farsi and/or Arabic. I could not find any night classes at nearby colleges in my area so i found this software program that has 33 different cd's for 33 diferent languages you can learn. So that is probably the way i'll go to learn the basics of the languages. Hoping to learn one of them by the time i graduate in 1.5 years.

Farsi is a pretty tough language to crack. I studied it for five years and still can't say "I want a beer." LOL. Try moving to Persian territory and immersing yourself in the culture, the language will follow more naturally. Plus, the company would see it as a big plus!

Since you can't find any community college classes, you may want to look into finding a private language school or private tutors (check the net). I don't know, I tried one of those language CDs (Spanish) & you have to be REALLY dedicated to follow the lesson plans. I guess I'm too used to traditional classroom teaching. I ended up taking a conversational night school class & I learned faster & cheaper in 8 weeks of instruction than what I paid for from the CD.
