    Bachelor's of Spanish...

I have my BA in Spanish, but I have terrible credit. Working on paying that down presently. I'd love to work for the SBI, but I'm afraid my credit will shoot that option down. Any thoughts?

First, get your credit under control and repay your debts. Then show this to investigators (meaning try to get on board with a LE agency after you fix your credit problems), and you should be good to go. A BA in Spanish will be attractive to MANY agencies. While working in Internal Affairs (the hiring and firing division) of our county's Sheriff's Office, I learned that too many applicants applied when they had temporary disqualifying attributes (not waiting the required 3 years for experimental marijuana use, credit problems, extensive speeding tickets, etc.) which caused them to be disqualifed for a much longer period than if they had simply waited out the appropriate amount of time for their specific problem to no longer be an issue. I don't know the details of your credit woes, so I can't comment more specifically for your case, but do be sure to have them paid or otherwise under control before seeking an LE position to keep from receiving a DQ.

ROS...thx SO much for the info. Working on the debt (lots of it too) & should have it pretty well under control by the time I receive my Associate's. I'm working full-time too, so probably will take 3-4 years to get it.

I appreciate your response. This will help a great deal.
