    FBI Investigative Specialist

Ok Im in the process for IS for 16 months, had my medical July 9. AC said my file is in background. All my contacts and employers have been contacted in late May early June(some of them told me they had been contacted)what are they waiting for and what are the next steps. Anyone else have any info on IS. I was also told that the next IS class will be in Sept. Anyone have any info on this.

I cannot believe how long this is taking. I finished my process for IS on July 9th (medical). I have been looking on this forum and checking daily to see if people are being sent to IS classes. Some finished after I did and they are being sent. No hard feelings and good luck to all of them. But I am wondering what is going on. It seems like the last few months have been years.

I too applied in May 2003, was interviewed Jan 2004, made conditional offer Feb 2004. Was told that the Top Secret Clearance would take 3 - 6 months. I have had 5 background investigators. I guess due to my very active years in LE I have a few skeletons that they needed clarification on. We seem to be in the same boat. I really don't need the job, but, wanted to put my experience to good use after 9/11 as somebody said The G is very slow and I think the budget may be an issue. The new one usually starts in October but the funding hasn't always come on time.

All in the same boat then. Interviewed Feb 2003, finished the medical August 28th. Everything else is completed. Just waiting on the call. I have no clue what is going on or how much longer this will take. Maybe we will all be there together in training huh?

I received a return on my medical saying that I need to clear up 2 issues. I have to go to my doctor at my own expense. I did that about 6 days ago and once again I am waiting on a answer.

So far I haven't heard anything. So who knows... I know they have to be secretive but I figure at this point they can offer us a little more information. At least a timeline for how much longer. Good luck to you.

Anybody have a clue when the next Investigative Specialist training will be? I figure I will be in the next class. Still haven't heard anything after the medical. Almost 2months ago at this point.

I have also heard nothing. I called DC today and they have nothing. Everyone gives the same answer, NOTHING. I thought that Homeland Security was bad in the begining. I worked for them in within the first few months that they started oh boy what a mess. But the FBI seems to be just as bad.

I keep waiting trying to be patient...I leave a message but get no return phone call... maybe they are testing our patience... ha ha... Maybe we will know something soon. I am almost 2 months past completion of all parts of the pre screening process... so I guess I will just have to wait some more. Good luck to you. We probably will end up in the same training class since we seem to be at the same point in the process.

If you don't mind me asking... did it say why you were disqualified? Just curious to see what they disqualify on.

It said they are rescinding there offer of employment, I got it for a medical, a lower back problem that does not exist. I have been going to a chiropractor all my life and just wanted them to know about it.

That sucks... can you appeal? Or do you have to go through the whole process over again? Either way that is alot of time wasted on your part. Sorry to hear that. I still haven't heard anything. So who knows. Good luck to you if you appeal or reapply. Hopefully it will all work out.

They very well may have seen something that in your spinal x-ray that looks like it will cause you problems later on. My dept screens everyone pretty closely by an orthopedist because so many cops go out on back injuries. If they see even a potential problem, the person is DQ'd even if that person has never had a back ache in their life.

    Sorry you got DQ'd.
Apparently, I'm supposed to be more angry about what Mitt Romney does with his money than what Barack & Michelle Obama do with mine

No one ever did an x-ray on my back they are just assuming by what I put on my application. I was very honest and said I pulled a muscle in march and went to a chiropractor. Im a life long Chiropractic goer, because I went for free to my uncle for years he always did a great job. So I figured list it to be honest. I went to a Ortho Dr. today and they cleared me. Going to another one friday morn.
