I was told that the USMS is the only agency that has a mandatory fit test. I am not sure that this is true. I do not know of any other 1811s (criminal investigators) that have mandatory fit.

BTW, we are required to take the fit test every 6 months. Note, I said "take" not, not "pass". LOL

The Air MArshals have a PT test every four months. It is not that hard and even if you fail it, it is not like they are going to ground us. I think it is a joke but who am I to say anything. "I am just a small worm on a big freaking hook."

DEA had one until we got an administrator who found out he had to give agents time to work out on the job if there was a fit test.

He was a cheap bastard and correctly guessed that the agents who are going to stay in shape and work out are going to do it whether anyone makes them or not, or gives them time to work out or not.

It didn't really change much except to make people have to sneak off to go to the gym.

    Fit standards

Click me for USMS fit standards. They, by no means, are difficult. If you get "superior" in 2/3 core events (push-ups, sit-ups and run), with the 3rd being "excellent", you get an 8 hour time-off award. If you get 2 "excellents" and a "superior", you get a 4 hour award.

    Ours used to be:

    1.5 mile timed run
    maximum number of push-ups
    maximum number of sit ups
a timed minute step test where your heart rate was measured afterwards.
    flexability test
    body fat measurement
    weight and height
    blood pressure test

I don't remember what the standards were for pass/fail, but if you did poorly enough, you were put on the "fat-boy" program where you had to be given a schedule to be re-tested or be put on limited duty.

You had to really be gone to get on the fat-boy program, but we had one SAC who was a runner. He would make any agent younger than him who ran the 1.5 mile run slower than he did come to his office for a lecture on law enforcement and physical fitness. :D

All agencies I know have entry standards. The question was which ones have standards once you are hired on.

No, they are in inches. However, if you reach to the bottom of your feet, I think that is 18". I need to be in the office to confirm that though... I know it is 17-18"... so if you reach 21.5, you are reaching about 3.5 inches beyond your feet.

The FBI's fitness program is voluntary, if I recall. Those that participate get the 3 hours a week to workout, right? Ours is mandatory. Most often, however, those 3 hours end up being LEAP. :( Ah well.. I'd work out anyways!

Yeah, me too. As far as I know yes, it is still voluntary. I was gonna say DANG if those were inches from the feet.
