What do the USMS SOG look at when hiring besides physical Standards? Do they look for military experience?

SOG doesn't hire you. Candidates must be 1811, Criminal Investigative Deputy U.S. Marshals. There is a rather lengthy application packet, consisting of of many things, to include military & LE experience, education, special training/certifications, a basic psych questionaire, prior firearms scores, prior fit scores, etc.
There are guys on SOG with no military. We have a lot of guys who were SF, SEAL, Air Force PJ, etc. It runs the gambit. Everyone has something to offer, you just need to get through the selection course.

I am going to take an english and report riding class because a teacher of mine said that is what they look at when going for a specialized unit? Do the USMS look at that or is luck of the draw when applying? I am trying to get all the information because I really want to be a U.S. Marshal so if you have any tips to make me a better canidate would be apprecitated.
